even if he was he wouldn’t score anyway if we are being honest, he is far more likely to slam the ball against the defender or put it wide.
This one
OR
This one.
As I said yesterday probably Jesus would’ve fluffed it anyway but ideally it was the play.
Is Jesus to the direct left of Saka in those shots?
Yep, here’s another still as Nwaneri let it fly there.
Inter completely lost Jesus there.
Dimarco was caught worrying about Saka and Bisseck had no clue Jesus was behind him.
By the time Bisseck loses Jesus, there’s an Inter player between Nwaneri and where the pass would need to go. Wasn’t a glaring opportunity missed tbh, very difficult ball to pull off there
Actually it’s not Jesus in the first one, can’t tell who it is…martinelli? Gabriel? That’s the most obvious one for me a straight ball there isn’t hard and whoever it is, is wide open.
Jesus comes free later on yeah
This is the thing with having a young, talented player come in and be held to ridiculous standards. In a few years time and with development, he probably has the noise to hold onto the ball and distribute as per the situation rather than lashing the shot.
I don’t think anyone is truly criticising him for it tbh, it was just something we noticed at the time and now have the images to discuss. Until now I was convinced it was Jesus clean through at first, so also wrong ![]()
I actually enjoyed his attempt and desire to make something happen, just would’ve been an elite decision if he’d found one of the strikers there.
People say he reminds them of wilshere, and he does share a lot of similarities, but jack is finding the pass in that moment, aged 17 or otherwise.
Desperate for what?
I’m really pleased with how he’s been able to break into contention, and his goal in the cup was phenomenal.
But he’s not so much the finished article that he’s ready to be starting games like last night or Newcastle. We saw last night for example, how what he did against Preston doesn’t get the job done away at Inter Milan and I don’t personally think his appearance as a substitute last night was particularly good.
Yeah, real-time I didn’t even notice it and fully endorsed him having a crack at the goal but when I watched it back today, he definitely had an opening for a pass.
I don’t think it’s an easy pass but I don’t think it’s some impossible pass either. For how technical be appears to be, I don’t think he would have trouble pulling it off.
Judging from what I’ve seen of him so far though, he does appear to be more of a shooter than a passer so I’m not surprised that’s the option he went for.
He certainly doesn’t shy away from having a go himself and there’s a reason he was used as a striker at times at youth level.
His cameos this season have also come in that hybrid second striker role.
For what is worth, I don’t mind that aspect of his game much. I think it’s a profile we like.
Not only that, GC, but I’d hope his approach would rub off on others. Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky said it best. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
Yeah.
Broadly speaking, if you’re dependent on a 17 yo player to get your points, the club fucked up, not the player.
Jesus would have fumbled it and got tackled
3 body feints followed by a tame effort into the keepers grasp
By the way, it’s 2028 in my Football Manager game and Odegaard is pissed off that Nwaneri is keeping him out of the side.
Absolute baller.
So, patience everyone, he’s going to be better that Odegaard in 4 years.
Sheesh, FM got players whining about lack of football that quickly now?
Same on FIFA career mode. I had a player get suspended and missed a game and then he didn’t play again the next game as it was a cup game and then he asked for a transfer due to me not playing him. The absolute fucking cheek.
Yep, had it with many of the established players over the years when they’ve been out of form or tired.
It’s my biggest issue with FM24, a player can agree they need a rest but still get angry about being left out. When you have a meeting with them, none of the options mention rotation or resting players, which leaves you either having to play them until they injure themselves or tell them you’re reducing their playing time and risk losing them.
Luckily the in-game editor can sort this little bug in a jiffy.
Delightful stuff. He’s definitely outgrown that level ![]()
