Ethan Nwaneri (53)

Hopefully we get to see him and Ode dominating the midfield together in a few year. The best case scenario.

I think Ethan can be a great successor of Ode, in terms of age.

Absolutely. Odegaard is 25 and I think we can safely say Ethan Nwaneri will also one day be 25 :grinning:

True, but I would also really like to see him developing and maturing soon enough so we can see them playing together at the top level.

we know Ethan is good… but, juggling really means nothing on the field

Just you wait until he juggles one past Ramsdale on Saturday

Not entirely true. I do agree that not all good jugglers would make for great footballers, but there are skills in juggling that come in handy on the pitch, like touch, control and feel for the ball.

Play the kid from the start. Especially if we have no Odegaard or Saka.

Just can’t fathom how we can be so conservative with him and not play him when there is no Saka and Odegaard

We binned off ESR and Viera to not play him when we’re lacking creativty and drip, that’s very lame from Arteta almost cowardly tbh

Let the kid have a go, he would not only relish the oppurtunity but he deserves it too

He didn’t need to be starting today. Bigger mistake was not playing Trossard in cm.

When does he need to be starting then?

If not when we don’t have Saka and Odegaard?

Trossard doesn’t play CM for us and he doesn’t offer anything there

In the cup games and in home games like we had before the break. He’s a kid.

saka was a kid when he was starting regularly…stop messing about and play the damn kid.

Different circumstances you have to admit surely?

well at the moment we cant do much worse…at least he moves the ball quickly and will take people on. This midfield has no creation and is just dead.

Need to trust him now

By this statement, Yamal wouldn’t be where he is today. If a ā€œkidā€ is good enough to be on the bench or train with first team for over 18 months then he is also ready enough to start games or make impact more than 10-15 mins esp when the side are already missing key offensive players.

This narrative is boring and needs to be dropped.

So we’re comparing 18 year old Saka playing Europa games and a generational talent in Yamal to Nwaneri. Why?

Starting Nwaneri is desperation.

I rate Nwaneri a lot.

Starting Nwaneri isn’t desperation, he’s shown he has requisite quality to get a chance

And what are you seeing in this midfield creativity wise that suggests that in the absence of Saka and Odegaard we should be leaving out someone who supposedly made the club decide to let both ESR and Viera go?

Remember the club didn’t permanently sign an attacking player in the summer

The line up was needlessly negative
