Who knows the severity of Kai’s injury but this could be a big opportunity for Nwaneri. Arteta has talked about him as a striker and if Merinonplays CF there should be more midfield minutes. We really need him to step up.
our season comes down to Noni and Nwaneri… and that assumes Gyok is a hit…. ooof
Yeah, not really the place we wanted to be heading into the new season.
I’ll say it again, Gabby Jesus. We can get 20 good games out of him.
Isn’t he back around Christmas time, can we afford to wait so long?
In my head, he’s scheduled for early October.
So late January then.
Really good today, has looked very comfortable linking play in midfield.
I thought he was a bit frustrating tbh. Quite a few occasions where it seemed like he could have released the ball earlier.
Probably so. But he did a lot of good work dropping in to link play and that’s the midfield stuff we need from him. Not worried at all about his final third contribution.
Yeah, same. He has flashes but there’s definitely occasions where he seems lost.
I’d give him this was one of his better performances in midfield. Better than what he showed in preseason for sure.
This is his opportunity to make the position his.
Rise to the occasion young Ethan.
A bit frustrating watch at times for me… the kid’s good, but I don’t think he’s ready to own this spot for a while yet. Held onto the ball for ages when he had a player to his right and central to release it to.
Frustrating but there will be more of these performances once he really can lock-down the demands of that position. Not bad.
I mean he is 18. His play won’t be flawless.
Odegaard did that in his last two games too though. Good thing is, Ethan is developing and should only get better.
We have to remember he’s only played #10 a handful of times and it’s always with a different set of attackers. They’re learning each other’s runs, angles to receive preference, small habits etc. Long season ahead, will all click more within time.
I think there’s a chance that some of the people who went the most overboard on the hype for him last season will be calling him “deadwood” and fantasising his transfer by the end of the season if things don’t go his way.
Might be wrong Odegaard’s injury didn’t look that serious.
Wouldn’t be shocked if he’s back for Liverpool.
Either way, I think Eze would play ahead of Nwaneri there.
He was okay, nothing special. Just need to keep giving him time and have him build his confidence.
Seemingly behind Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Trossard, Noni, Eze, Merino and GCSE Dowman in the pecking order.
