Ethan Nwaneri (22)

What is that for? What does his age matter? A rod to beat him with huh…..as i say Yamal had the talent and he played for Barca at 15 also. Unless of course you are gonna start with ‘he is nothing special’

I love Dowman. Exceptional talent. Let’s not play that narrative. If you’re talking about developing talents then why not give Nwaneri a go?

Do you not rate Nwaneri?

Please answer, did 15-year old Yamal come on, aged 15, away to Atletico or Real? If not, there’s no comparison.

Dowman was brilliant at home last week. You’re missing the point. The issue is not with Dowman, it is the desperation element.

This is the Ethan Nwaneri topic though

Stop being a snide it is nothing to do with that it was the GCSE pisstake you didnt mention anything about anyone elses age but you used that on him and him alone almost as a slight on him.

Grow up for flip sake. I’m not digging out Dowman, I’m digging out the manager. Labouring on this point is boring.

Do you rate Nwaneri? Was Yamal being used away to Atletico or Real at fifteen?

Yes i think Nwaneri is good, but what of it? More than likely yes Lamal was integrated into Barcas team very quickly as he has only just turned 18 and has played over 100 matches already.

You are carrying on like Dowman was on for 75 minutes, as i say it is a growing experience for him having a few minutes at a place like Anfield.

Look at Saka he was thrown into big matches when he was young, has helped him a great deal. It sucks we lost this game but it could be a big help in the education of dowman.

This is the Nwaneri topic, so was interested to get your thoughts on him. I’m surprised that him or Trossard didn’t come on today whilst losing but it is what it is. Am interested to see how he has been used.

I’ll ask for a final time if Yamal was being brought on to get them a result away to Real or Atletico. I genuinely do not know, but it was you who drew a parallel between Dowman and Yamal.

Look, Dowman is clearly brilliant. He is possibly at the level already and didn’t look phased. My gripe is with Arteta.

Wasn’t he the first sub against Leeds to replace Odegaard?

I genuinely do not know if he was brought on for a result possibly Eze, i feel that we needed someone on the wing and Dowman has tricky runs that has caused a penalty in the last match and in preseason. He came on late and at Anfield by that time the game was done.

Respectfully, our aim this season shouldn’t be developing talent - it’s should be to win majors.

Saka was blooded in slowly, mainly in cup games. He was also 18. Our squad was nowhere near as stacked then either.

Nwaneri must be thinking how do I get chances here. Merino and Odegaard played in cm today, Madueke and Dowman played on the right and that position is held by Saka. Martinelli and Eze played on the left.

Backs to the wall, the manager looked to Dowman. That’s not a slight on Dowman but quite damning for Nwaneri

He was indeed. Came on pretty early. Found it interesting. Thought he played well

We were one nil down against our main tital rivals at their gaff, my concern is not handing out a fucking “growing experience” to a 15 year old. What are you saying??

what i was saying it is a big thing for his growth playing there at anfield, but at the same time him playing on the wing has caused opposition a lot of problems so that is why arteta put him on, by that time the game was potentially gone but he could have done something to help us.

I thought A levels Nwaneri done alright today.

Dowman shouldn’t even have been on the bench today. This was not the game for it at all.

If a senior player had given away the ball and gotten us broken on like Dowman did, and if that chance had been finished, the criticism would have been loud. These games are not training opportunities.

As mentioned in the match day thread, he should’ve been at home trying out his new school uniform for yr 11.

It’s a shame that Arteta doesn’t trust Nwaneri. But oh well. His decision I guess.

How dare you suggest that he is more academically able than Dowman.

hey :trossard:

On a serious note, and I know it’s hindsight, maybe Ethan might have been a better choice in the starting lineup than Martinelli considering the central midfield trio that Arteta put out.
