Never. I shouted so many times at Kane for being slow, I can’t just pretend that one goal makes all that OK.

@SpankyJoyJoy yeah, can tell he was a defender. Still not conceded a goal. Only team who can say that.

Ngl my ego hurts bad to see Southgate getting glorified as some tactical genius right now.

Great result anywho!

Are England fans allowed in Rome on Saturday or is it red listed

Think it’s allowed. Wales fans went there for their match v Italy. They just weren’t allowed into Amsterdam.

I take the point about the lack of service but we’ve seen him for Spurs this season, not just scoring but being a real facilitator for players like Son too, but in this tournament there’s not been a hint of that, not even remotely.

So yes, the lack of service is a factor that needs to be considered, but you’re acting like he’s some sort of limited poacher who is totally dependant on service, when he isn’t. He should be showing more than he has at this tournament, and that goal is a great start, however belated. So I want to see him build on this, but I struggle to understand people taking the angle that he deserves no criticism. He’s been sluggish and shit, some of that is the lack of service and some of it is on him, come on.

Spurs are a much better functional attacking unit than England are, we had two attempts in the 2nd half. It worked tonight but may not work in another match.

I conceded he hasn’t been at his best before, he looks tired and sluggish to a degree but the blunt/disjointed attack is an issue going forward IMO

Some criticism is warranted but the notion that it’s him that’s the biggest problem is BS.

I’ve not seen that notion expressed, everyone I know and most on here from what I’ve seen think Southgare is the biggest problem.

Outside of the team sure but what about the actual team?

You lot are finally respecting England but the Southgate love is a little much.

Overreaction. Unless by the outside you mean he’s basically England’s version of peak Joachim loew.

Guy has hamstrung the best talents in Europe for too long

He’s probably getting the most heat out of any individual player, sure, but thats because of the expectations that come with being generally considered your nation’s best player, in conjunction with no other player who has started every game looking off the pace to such an extent.

But you said he’s being described as the biggest problem, I think its relevant to point out that the majority of England fans (anecdotal evidence) don’t think he’s the biggest problem, but that Southgate is. The biggest criticism comes Southgates way for not making the most of our attacking talents, and that underpins the criticism of Kane to an extent, which I think is kind of your point too.

Fair play if you have also been quite critical of Kane though and I’m not giving that fair dues :+1:

This is the funny thing imo. There is really no shithousery. Unless you think defensive football equals shithousery. It’s just so decent…

@Electrifying but at the end of the day the winning coach is always right. He’s winning…

Kane’s game involves dropping deep and getting on the ball which I’m perfectly fine with otherwise there’s no point in him.

Yeah mainly mate but people excuse this now but moan at other teams and clubs every week if they don’t play pep ball.
Maguire being Maguire suddenly becomes a good player when he’s been a clown for a season playing the same football.

When we started to open up he played alot better but he looked lost on the first half, no idea what lanes to be blocking also slow. But it’s unfair to be too harsh on him as a player because he does a great job at West Ham

He started terribly but grew into the game massively tbf to him
