Southgate will be judged in the knockouts ultimately. For as lacklusture as the attack has been, England are yet to give up any quality chances in the first 2 games. A stable defence will go a long way in this tournament.

This is true and to be honest I don’t have a problem with his team selection particularly, there’s nothing wrong with playing it safe in the initial games and opting for sterling. What i question from the Scotland game was his abysmal use of substitutes. Foden clearly looked the only player likely to break them down, and kane is the only one whose proper reliable in front of goal who can hold the ball up. Rashford was a really bad choice too. just don’t take off your best players mate lol.

I dunno, I personally thought Kane was struggling for most of the match. He was second to so many balls. Just didn’t look with it to me. Perhaps not 100% fit. Have no problem with Southgate taking him off. Though I would have brought DCL on instead of Rashford.
