England

Would you mind linking me please? I read several articles yesterday trying to find more info and that’s more explanation than I was able to find.

Here’s a BBC one:

The US firm said the colours were inspired by the training kit worn by England’s 1966 World Cup winners.

I definitely have a bigger problem with £124.99 for a sports shirt that probably cost less than £5 to manufacture and ship.

This whole thing stinks of shit!

I don’t ever buy England shirts but that away one looks sweet. Will potentially pick it up on the cheap in a year or so time.

The whole thing is a shambles.
Saying “Taking cues from the heroes of the WC winners” while having a “modern take” is nonsense.

“The trim on the cuffs takes its cues from the training gear worn by England’s 1966 heroes”

Wow, who can resist the combination of the trim on the cuffs of the training shirt with a multi coloured Georges flag for £120?

A Nike spokesperson told media outlets: "The England 2024 Home kit disrupts history with a modern take on a classic.

That sentence is just transparent PR nonsense.
The Nike spokesperson probably doesn’t realise that England won the WC playing in red and that the white shirts they wore were just plain with a blue collar and England badge.

Pretending to be inclusive by sticking a multi coloured Georges flag on it, and selling it for £120, is about as exclusive as you can get because most people can’t afford it.

Let’s hope some the profits made from this blatant rip off are given to the sweat shop kids who made them and Nike can hold their heads high in their transparent virtue signalling.

It’s slightly different but I just can’t see what else it would be - very odd, especially the lack of comms

The only offensive thing is the price of the kit.

The people who are furious at the flag are probably the same ones who got furious when they saw “The Dark Side of the Moon” cover, and thought Pink Floyd had gone woke

I enjoy the politicians queuing up to pretend to care about this to try and pick up some free points.

Ngl, was kind of hoping Jamaica would pull off the result to put pressure on Berhalter who is just such an uninspiring and uninteresting coach.

We’re talking about the tiny flag on the back of the collar, right?

Feels like a massive overreaction to me. No idea why Nike thought this was a good idea but equally who gives a shit.

Southgate probably enjoying the deflection from the White saga, and selecting a washed Henderson

Europe is just so dusted

Of course it is  I just heard a guy saying they took out the white, because England actually hates white people

The reality is, if it had just been a red cross with no white, noone would give a shit. It’s the multi coloured nature of the cross which is winding people up, because they perceive it as some LGBT icon.

Overreaction is correct, so many snowflakes bitching about nothing. Hypersensitive over faux culture war issues is annoying.

So the price of this kit…

Is £120 the price of the authentic jersey or the replica?

That’s for the authetic one. I think it’s 85 quid for the replica.

So a similar cost to a club shirt when they’re released :joy:

It’s a shame the newspapers and political classes are suddenly up in arms at the cost of a kit but not some more obvious, essential costs of living.

In 1993 an long sleeve authentic Arsenal kit cost £45 and which was slightly more than I was paying for electricity, gas and water per month. Council tax was £35 per month.
In 2024 an authentic kit costs up to £125, while my utility bills cost £225 per month and Council tax is £175.

Two are essential, one isn’t. But of course the one that Westminster have no control over is the one they make a big deal of.

As for the flag, if it offends you…grow up.

Seeing all the defaced flags at England games must really rile them up
