Emiliano Martinez

Controversial pens, Argentina seemingly wrapping up the final only for Mbappe to pull France right back in and almost knick it in the end.

I’ve literally wiped it out of my head it seems.

Well, any other international final that’s stuck in your head? Could be just you don’t care much about them, which is pretty common tbf.

I wouldn’t say that. I really enjoyed the Euros and the 2018 World Cup, I remember quite a few games from those. I think it’s that this was the Qatar one and it happened in the middle of the season.

It was one of the best world cups or atleast Argentinian games(one I can attest for) so I don’t understand the recent comments.

There was the world cup final then club football again like 6 days later where we’d usually have a few weeks sitting with that as our primary football memory.

Add in the season we came back to and i think its reasonable to not remember too much about it.

Quite liked it being during the season in hindsight, but probably because it was a one off.

All I remember is Saudi Arabian goats and a pen fest for Argentina though.

I really hate this fucking cunt

Insane save for that Trossard tap-in.

You just knew he was going to play with a chip on his shoulder.

He’s still pissed we replaced him with Leno.

More on Trossard that imo.

Dunno, I feel in those situations you can’t overcomplicate it. Could’ve picked an angle but at that speed and being so close, you simply have to tap it in.

Lots of a power too. It was honestly an incredible save for me.

I feel the same as him. Part of what irks me about his attitude now is that he used to come off as one of the humblest players at the club.
At one point I thought he could be a good captain, lol.

He’s become so arrogant since he left us lol. I suppose winning the World Cup does that to people with weak mentalities

Yeah, he’s become a prick before that, that Villa move was the changing point.

I don’t want to act like a psychologist here but this screams like trauma to me.

Reminds me of a friend I used to have when I was younger. One of the most innocent kids I knew, way too innocent actually.
Once he entered his twenties he became a completely different person, became all macho and wild, to an unrecognisable level.

I still think we should have kept Martinez rather than spending 30m on Ramsdale only to replace him almost straight away with Raya who will probably cost around the same.

Martinez is only being called out for having an attitude because he’s playing for another club but when we’ve had similar players it’s ok.

Lehman was a wind up and Szczesney wasn’t much better but they were our players so if Martinez was with us winning trophies as well as annoying opposition supporters, I’m sure we’d be fine with it.

He’s definitely a bellend but doesn’t he do similar albeit to a less extent to what Ramsdale was getting love for when he was the starter?

Man grows in confidence and behaves differently to how he did over 12 years ago when he was a teenager. Shocking stuff.

I’d say it was probably down to winning the biggest competition on planet earth that has given him an ego. Rightly or wrongly so.

That’s not to say that seeing his antics doesn’t grate on me haha.

He’s not our cunt therefore hes just a cunt.
