Elon Musk (and Ex Twitter)

The way I see it, the tweet on the left is an example of him giving an honest, sensible opinion on a covid related matter, one that is underpinned by evidence and logic. This honest opinion is one that would not be popular with a ton of conservatives. The tweet on the right stands in contrast because it’s moronic pandering to conservatives, hitting on the topic of Fauci by making a dumb joke about pronouns, two birds with one stone. Demonstrating how easy it is to play up to, or even grift, a conservative audience, which is the point I think the person is making with their tweet.

I don’t think the point is to find a hypocrisy or contradiction, which seems to be how you read it, it’s to demonstrate what it looks like when someone is playing up to a specific audience, and how easy it is to do that, with the right hand tweet being a clear example of that, in contrast to the older tweet on the left, where he evidently wasn’t trying to play up to that same audience.

Any regular person who hailed him as a free speech champion for twitter should feel like a total fucking idiot :joy:

Yeah that all makes sense and I think you are correct that I’ve probably read it the wrong way.

Rupar getting banned is not right but I can’t lie I don’t find it funny.

One thing I’ll give Musk is that he’s never boring, his ownership of Twitter really has been consistently very entertaining.

Wasn’t that the plate of the person who attacked his son?

Yeah, I saw that tweet and thought the same.

The number plate should be enough information for someone like Elon to find out who the person is, so the only intention of posting this was to send his mob to the person in the video.

Isn’t OA maintaining a similar policy. I don’t think it’s wrong to prohibit accounts solely made to promote links to other platforms.

Twitter policy: prohibited accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social media firms and content that contains links or usernames for rival platforms

On a related note, he is stepping down as CEO of twitter which is great news. As I much prefer him to focus on Tesla and SpaceX. And I think there are others much better for the task of turning it around at twitter.

Life comes at you fast when you’re an Elon fan :joy:

I still think Twitter will be better for it in a year or two. But I always thought buying twitter was not his real intention. And I think it’s better if he focuses his efforts on Tesla and Space X.

He can be a board member on twitter and choose a good ceo for it.

What was his real intention?

Not buying twitter

That answer is a bit of a cop out.

I have laid out the reasoning behind this many times in this thread.

It’s not a cop out at all. But I won’t expect you to take the time to understand it or look up what I wrote before on why I believe it was never his intention.

I don’t think you have really. A couple times you have said that his big mouth got him in trouble and that he didn’t really want to buy twitter, but in the end was forced to.

But I don’t think you have actually explained what you think the alternative motivation was, what Musk’s intended play was.

When I say it was not his intention to buy twitter and someone asks me, what was his intention, then the answer is: not to buy twitter.

I will elaborate: his intention was ruffling some feathers. Which he did. The mistake was to do a poll - and since he commits to the results of his polls, he got forced into buying it. What if the poll was a No? He would not have bought it.

Now that he owns it, he will try to improve it and it will be a rocky road for him and twitter. But, I really do not think this all was actually the plan to commit to and buy twitter.

As a nice side bonus he has exposed the toxic liberal bias of twitter (and many other social media), where those who go against the one true narrative as portrayed by the msm and its liberal owners gotten routinely banned, shadow-banned and ostracized.

Side-tracked: American “Liberals” by the way is not left wing at all in my books. They are as crooked and do fuck all for the poor as the Republicans, just dress it up nicely, but do fuck all in the end. On top of that they have many insufferable twats amongst them. At least Republicans don’t pretend not to be assholes.

I am glad Musk is stepping down as the CEO of twitter as he has more important companies to focus on, namely Tesla and Space X.

You said you’d explained the reasoning many times, saying “his intention was not to buy twitter” is not explaining his reasoning at all, come on.

What?! He didnt buy it because he was honouring a fucking poll lmao, he did it because Twitter were gonna sue him and likely would have won, forcing the purchase on him. He knew the writing was likely on the wall so bit the bullet and went ahead with the purchase.

Unbelievable that you’d try to spin this as him doing something honourable haha. Well, it isn’t unbelievable at all in the literal sense.

There was no honourable decision here, he just royally fucked up.

Mr I Respect Poll Results :joy:
