Edu Gaspar

Man look how fucking classy AFTV is these days. Not like the exploitative parasites they were in the past.

Though I do love how they rocked Edu with that Trossard comment.

Trossard used to play for our second in command, Albert Stuivenberg, and essentially Jorginho was Mikel’s perfect player.

To me that looks a little like Edu completely fucked his job this window, couldn’t land his main targets, and was rescued by the management team who have better things to do right now.

I don’t know, Edu just isn’t it at this level.

He kinda did, didn’t he?
To be fair, it looks like he was pivotal in bringing Jesus to Arsenal.

You mean a young player Arteta literally worked with for the last 4 or 5 years?

I’ll give Edu the other two Gabby’s though, fantastic on his part.

Edu as technical director is head of recruitment, he’s the guy that goes to the board to greenlight transfers.

Trossard very obviously came from Mike’s number 2, and Jorginho came about because Mikel needed someone.

I’m starting to feel like Edu is being carried a little.

that’s too much of a credit to Albert. Arteta mentioned that they discussed about him once he became available. Trossard is not an outcome of Mikel’s number 2 pushing for it.

Also, you could also say it was mature of Edu to not let his ego dictate the signings.

He literally managed him before bro

That doesn’t mean Albert woke up one day, barged into Edu’s office and suggested Trossard to him.

Compared to who though? Tixi and his magic chequebook?

Edu definitely has constraints that others in his position don’t. I’d much rather them working as a team on squad building anyway. I don’t see who does a better job than him right now.

No, but common sense dictates that if Mikel trusts a man to be his number 2 he’ll trust him on a player.

Mikel and his staff are a tight unit, people don’t see that yet.

It was like your boy Wenger, he fell to absolute shit the minute Pat Rice left his side.

I don’t follow?

He can’t throw the wealth of nation states or insane Billionaires like Abramovich or Bohely at clubs players and agents.

I don’t disagree.
I do believe signings like Tomiyasu, Trossard literally fell into Arsenal’s lap wherein the respective agent offered the players to us.

I believe Trossard became available to Edu, who then discussed the possibility of signing him with Mikel & Albert.

Edu certainly needs to identify his first choices well so we don’t fuck about like we did with Mudryk.
I liked the way we closed Jesus early and got him a good pre-season.

Identifying talents is very subjective & always a gamble, so I can give Edu some leeway. My issue with Edu is letting the deals go too far into the window.

Ah come on. That’s lazy.

We were offering 100m for Mudryk.

I’m simply saying that this window was more a failure than a success for Edu. Look at his face when AFTV says thank you for Trossard.

Didn’t come from Edu, didn’t come from Mikel. Came from Al

So what more could be have done?

I’m an outcomes sort of guy and I’d bet Edu is too. I doubt he’s lost any sleep since Jan 31st.

Like I say, this is preferable for me. I want that whole thing working as a unit. Win win for me.

Anyway lads I’m going to leave this conversation and go over there

This is such a weird thing to gripe about.

Someone still had to negotiate terms with Chelsea and Brighton, and get the deals over the line.

Albert Stuivenberg can do that. Bet he saved us a few millions.

He probably did the negotiations with the airpod in too. Direct line back to Josh to make sure the financials all worked out.

You don’t get away with this. Small squad is part of the problem here.

Bum.
