Edu Gaspar

When a player is on £350k a week and has been put out to pasture, how much would you be paying if you were a buying club? The saving in wages means that to be rid of him I don’t think the free transfer is such bad business…

He had several good games in that loan spell which eeked out a transfer

The saved money ticks a box. Getting shut of an out form player ticks another. Not having a replacement though and needing one is a disaster.
This window was the chance for this as it has been obvious he needed replacing. Apart from the club accountant I struggle with what makes this a good day for the fans.

Just for fun, say we took the biggest names, threw them into a tilted Christmas tree and put a good manager on it:

how would they do if they played our current team? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: (I’m shit stirring I know)

If playing in their prime they’d have a good chance of winning. In fact I’d put them as the favourites.

I’d give Edu a B plus for the Summer window and an E for this latest one - avoids an F for clearing out people with no future at the club although think Auba did the work for him in his case.

Restart the counter.

Long term project, even though both of them are 22 years old and aren’t even ready.

And people want a 20 year old Saka out.

Dont think anyone here wants Saka out, just dont hype him up as our savior

I’m hyping him as hope as a bit more than potential.
Get onto the other wing for criticism. Blind alley Gab.

He’s definitely more than potential but if a big club wanted to buy him for silly money we’d be betting that he’s going to turn into Robben, Salah, Mahrez etc. He very well might but I’d take the money at this point the way Pool did with Sterling.

It could actually be the same situation tbh. I’d rather build and invest with him.
Him ESR and Odegaard are the goals and creativity in this team.
I want the players who are brought in around them who can take them forward.
Gnabry, Sterling, Maddison levels of talent. We really need this low risk. High reward type of player reconsidered.
Wing and prayer on age isn’t enough.

Then you’re better off picking another team to follow. KSE are not going to buy guys like that.

The signings that worked out are young. We are not strong enough or deep enough for these type of players.
I will say this again. Lokonga was a cheat signing to actually play major minutes this season.
He hasn’t been good enough. It’s a failed move by the club.
22 isn’t really that young either for a footballer.

What do you mean by that? I don’t think he was supposed to play much this year. I think the plan was to pair Partey with another starting quality midfielder when Xhaka left for Roma.

Wait a sec, where does the contract extension for Xhaka fit into this then? That’s a commitment that’s not a decision made on the spot.
