Declan Rice (done and dusted)

The Seagulls signed the Japan international from Kawasaki Frontale for just £2.7million in 2021.

Of course there are, that is why splashing 120 million on Declan Rice is a revolting thought. Mind you, I think he is a good midfielder and just what we need, but not at such a ridiculous price.

West Ham can get lost

Forgot any players, we should sign the Brighton scouting team. :grinning:

I wouldn’t mind signing Mitoma as well

Nifty player

I don’t think what this team needs right now to bridge the gap with City is to take punts on more “unknown” talent and try to be smart.

This is exactly the type of move you need to compete.

The core of the team is there, we now need 3-4 key moves to get to the next level.

I’m pro Rice and want this to get done asap, but damn, this would be the most underwhelming major Arsenal transfer since supporting this club.

I really really hope I have overlooked some of his qualities. :bellend:

Says he’s still worried about City coming in though.

Wouldn’t mind city coming in if that’s the fee, he’s not a 120m upgrade on Gundogan or rodri. Obv if we can get him between 60-80m it’s a much better deal.

Would be them turning full Bayern and turning it into a one team league though.

That would be money well spent

We’re slowly turning into the new Ligue 1.

I said before, I don’t think we’ll sign Rice and haven’t so far seen anything to change my mind on this. He’ll go to a club with more money than sense.

Yeah, I agree there’s still nothing concrete about him, just weak rumours and speculations.

A lot of it.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out we were never too deep into him, although wouldn’t be too surprised if we end up signing him too.

In the end, he’s a football player (that’s all we know, to paraphrase @Sol ).

Why?

He’s probably in with a shout of being one of the best midfielders in the Premier League

Then probably lose his hunger (unless of course he signs for pep)

The fee being thrown around for him is so high and while he’s a good holding midfielder, the idea that any club would pay a triple figure fee for a guy playing that position is still a little weird. The really insane fees typically go to goal scorers and creators.

I couldn’t care what his fee is. Can’t believe so many do.

We need a world class midfielder. One is waiting for us a few tube stops away. Pay whatever to get him

I think you’re undervaluing the importance of a holding midfielder in today’s game. They’re pretty much the controllers of games now.

It’s no coincidence that our performances went to shit the moment Partey’s form dropped.

Would not call him world class at all and that’s probably the difference for those of us who care about the fee.

Wouldn’t have minded 100m on Haaland last summer or 200m on Mbappe now. 120m on Declan rice would be hilariously insane imo

I wouldn’t put him above Partey or Rodri right now but I think he has a solid claim to be the 3rd best in the league.

And no, as much as I love Casemiro, he isn’t above Rice at the moment. If Man Utd had the option, they would 100% switch Casemiro with Rice.

As a DM maybe.

We already have one of those in your top 2 above him, what’s transformative about that? Okay for the future maybe but 100m plus is for impact now.

As a secondary 8 where we urgently need an upgrade, I’m not sure he’s even top 10?

Can’t say we share the same view on that.
