Declan Rice (done and dusted)

This is only a “saga” if you follow the latest news every 30 minutes.

The problem might be that we can’t afford to pay for him over two instalments. Or rather, they could but it means no more incomings until we’ve made money from sales. The club may feel it looks better to save face, pull out of the race and move on to no.2 on the list rather than keep having bids turned down.

Whatever happens, I hope we wipe the floor with West Ham whenever we play them this season.

Got to be Man City and Chelsea. Chelsea like to move in silence

If we don’t have money, then we rushed the Havertz deal, paying the amount that Chelsea asked for but none of us think it worth.
Then possibly go on to get Timber…
But not increasing the total amount on the Rice bid.

Doesn’t look like he is our #1 target at all.

At this point, I don’t care if they agree or not. Our #2 target will hopefully be just as good. I’m confident that if we tidy up our defense/off the ball movement, we’ll concede fewer goals and maybe even score more.

If Rice doesn’t join, then we shouldn’t even entertain offers for Partey tbh.

Breaking: Arsenal have communicated to West Ham that they’re thinking of proposing of coming up with an offer that could be formalized as a bid.

Could be our last offer. That’s the feeling I’m getting

touching distance of 100m, what a choice of wordings.
how close is a touching distance?

98, 99, or 99.5??

fuck it, all just BS

Now that West Ham smelled blood they won’t accept anything below 100m, and probably on 3 or less installments.

There’s a chance the club didn’t go all in here to see if City will match or offer a better fee than us.

If we have gone all in with this one though, I think that settles it regarding Rice. He won’t be coming.

Even if we went all in on our next move, does anyone believe that Man City cannot match or improve it?

I think it comes down to the player now.

If he comes, he comes. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t.

It’s all getting pretty fucking boring and draining now.

they won’t

I said earlier, if they really want him, they would simply just bid more than 90m, not an improved 80+10; if we all believe money is never an issue for them. Why not 91, 92 or more but just bid the same amount?

You may think they are trying to low ball , but I choose to believe they are not really into him at all, based on their record.

City will get him if they really want him. No matter what we bid, they can match or exceed it when you factor in the payment schedule, etc.

All we can do is offer the minimum amount we think West Ham will accept if City aren’t serious about going higher than us.

We should do something like 85+10 or maybe 85+15 with less realistic add ons if we think its important for them to claim a 100m fee to save face.

It is all getting boring but I’m desperately hoping he comes…

If he does the starting CDM position is sorted for 6-7 years without a doubt, quality player, durable as fuck, it’s as near safe a signing as could be made.

They might have serious intentions on purchasing Declan Rice and still maintain a ‘shrewd’ approach (ridiculous sums aside). It’s a game or bluff at this point in time; City know they aren’t competing with another financial behemoth (Arsenal) and they also understand our approach to this transfer, because we’re also playing a game of increments when bidding for the player. If City understand this, they wait it out, see what our next and probably final, top-end bid is and simply match the price and structure the deal in a more lucrative way that suits West Ham.

They can make a saving without throwing an extra £20M just because they can

From an Arsenal point of view though, if I was Mikel, I’d be saying to Declan that Pep won’t be the manager in 2 years time and that it makes the situation at City uncertain. We’re building a team that is starting to hit the ground at the right time; compete against Pep for the next two seasons, improve our squad and maybe eventually win something worthy finally.

That is why we need to throw in a real, touching distance of target amount sooner than later because we are just wasting time here.
We want our players to join ASAP, to join the summer camp, and we cannot afford to wait till the last few days of the transfer window and have panic buy.
Especially if City is really interested, we can simply pull out and go get our 2nd target.

If we are getting a good deal here, I would say we are doing a good job on negotiating.
If we are paying premium still… bending to WH, despite of City’s interested, then I would ask why the fuck we are lowballing in our first 2 bids?

I’m up from 45 to 54% confidence now.

Tell ya what, there might have been more posts in the Higuain thread but the level of rubbish talked is at an all time high in this thread all the same.
