Declan Rice (41)

I was literally about to write, before the first free kick, how Curtois reminds me of prime Dida or VDS. Just feels 3 metres tall and you have a feeling of hopelessness when he starts saving some good efforts with ease.

Plus, we haven’t scored a direct free kick in about 3 years surely? The last one I remember was Odegaard ages ago…
Just felt you need a special effort to beat that cunt, while we don’t have any good free kick takers in the squad at all…

And Rice took my thoughts personally… :arteta:

Crazy, CRAZY to witness what happened tonight.

This was just an insane couple of moments from him, sheer brilliance

I don’t really like the phrase but the classic taking a game by the scruff of the neck type of shit

Just WOW man, that’s a BIG dog performance from Rice

To beat Courtois twice from there is fucking incredible. Incredible

Moment of his career

He’s up there with Pepe now.

WE ROBBED WEST HAM

They both were. A whole team barely gets two of those in a season and he got 2 in less than quarter of an hour.

I know now is probably not the time, but I think the second free kick is the better than the first.

Definition of top bins.

Yeah, the second one was absolutely beyond ridiculous.

Keeper had zero chance. Not even two Donnarummas would’ve saved that.

Of course it is. No question.

Christ he needed this moment.

He’s been good since he came, but now he’s truly arrived. Bright lights of the Champions League and stands tall in Red.

Jover has just lost a lot of aura points

Tbf I’d say that was a fair assessment considering we haven’t scored a (direct) free kick over the last 200 games or so.

Declan says Jover was telling him to cross it on the first one :arteta:

God I’m watching that second free kick back. It’s one of the best free kicks I’ve ever seen. You literally can’t get any closer to the top corner.

Absolutely bonkers free kicks, to come from someone who has never scored a free kick as well is just even more insane

Rice disobeyed the set piece coach to score two of the best free kicks seen in the CL.

It had to be litetarally perfect, both with precision and power, to get it into the keeper’s near post from that position and distance. And against a keeper like Curtois.
