Declan Rice (41)

It hasn’t taken 10 games cos no one is really saying this exact thing lol

I love Rice but hard to genuinely argue he is more dynamic than Partey for the 6 role.

Not just more dymanic…
Rice has the youth, speed and health to cover more ground and do more jobs.

Nah Partey is considerably better on the ball, Rice is definitely improving and isn’t poor on it but Partey is one of very few in world football who can do what he does in possession. Both in terms of passing and how comfortable he is in the tight spaces. This is crucial for the way we play and the modern game.

I love Rice and I’m not intending for this to sound like I’m talking him down but I don’t think he is more dynamic than Partey.

Rice is better as a ball-winner but Partey isn’t necessarily poor at that so much as he is a silkier player so it’s probably noticed a bit less.

I’m quite sure Partey is faster, Rice just has more stamina.

Partey is low-key rapid when he wants/needs to be, guy is just so calm all the time that we never really see it.

We don’t win or even draw this game without Rice.

He absolutely dominates in front of the defence. His ability to read danger and power into interceptions is amongst the very best in the world.

Last season, we would have rushed Partey back and probably lost. Against City, you need to be more calm, patient and organised. Rice gives us a massive defensive platform.

I’d love to beat City playing rock and roll football. We’ve tried that for years and got battered / humiliated basically every time.

We finally beat City and we did it in a fairly boring way.

This team has to evolve to win the league. Yesterday’s result shows me that the players and manager have tools in their locker to win ugly. Rice has given us that option.

What a fucking signing. I still can’t believe we have him. He’s such a standard City signing, or a classic Fergy signing. He’s been a rock for us.

I have at least one moment per game where I sit there and think that to myself.

He’s alright isn’t he

Average 40m midfielder.

One of the best ball winners and combative midfielders in the world. You see it even when we’re playing shit. In fact that’s when he shines even more. He can cut off things that look impossible to and his drive on the ball is top top class. Worth every fucking penny.

Good thing this guy kept pushing.

It was a lovely goal even taking into consideration the mistake from Sanchez. Excellent first timer

A very bad performance that we’re not used to from him but that goal he scored was simply massive and took a lot of class and balls to pull off. Pinpoint accuracy.

Special player.

Think today was a good indication of the 8 not being quote right for him, not his fault obviously but doesn’t suit his skillset and there were quite a few times where he looked a bit unsure about positioning going forward.

Love him so much though

What a strike! No other Arsenal player tries that without taking another touch or trying to play someone else in.

Mí Declan.
