I’m with you on it being a normal playing load at a top club. What I don’t know enough about is how other managers mitigate the physical impact on players and whether what Arteta does is different.
Because it’s way too much of a pattern that our players look run into the ground by this point in the season compared to players at other top sides. It has happened every year of Arteta’s reign near enough.
I wonder if the extremely specific way Arteta wants the team to play is physically sustainable for a squad across a whole season, and whether there’s a need for more variety.
This I completely agree with.. but even then watch Klopp’s Liverpool they had a high energy style all season and the top players were all playing 50-60 games a season.
Listen to the stories of Juventus they had the players running so much that if they didn’t run enough during the game they would have to make it o in training the next day.
I just don’t think it’s specific to Arteta tbh with you. It’s a failing of a lot of top clubs / coaches.
I was going to say Pep gets it right but he’s also the only manager who gets torn a squad so big you could put two top teams out
I think 50-55 is acceptable and managable, but when you’re hitting mid 60s range it’s 100% gonna take it’s toll IMO. That’s a lot of fucking football for even the fittest players, especially central midfielders who more than not cover the most ground per game.
The internet is such a funny place. Everything about you screams victim. I bet you’ve never told anybody to STFU face to face. It’s hilarious.
As somebody with dyslexia, I think you should get tested. How you read the original post about Rive as a criticism of his over performances is baffling.
I’ve never had to tell someone to STFU to their face because most people are capable of nuanced conversations and don’t just shout out every thought that comes into their head like you do on here.
