David Raya (1)

Vicario I disagree. I think he’s been adjudged to have been “muscled” out of some challenges with strikers which could just as easily have been given as fouls on the 'keeper on another day. In fact, Vicario is one Spurs player I think gets into our starting XI.

Onana- goes without saying. He’s a liability.

I’m not sure if Allison has made more mistakes than Raya tbh.

STOP WITH YOUR AGENDA AGAINST HIM DAVE!

There are some fans that will never get over him replacing Ramsdale.

Yeah, me being such an England suppressor surely plays a role in it. :xhaka:

He royally fucked up today. We’re playing with really fine margins. It’s not as if it’s out of pocket to call him on it.

I’d start to question Raya if he was regularly making these mistakes but reality is this was just a bad error today. He has been so solid for us and feel he really completes our defence. Love Ramsdale and his passion but sometimes that isn’t enough. Raya is and will be our No.1 GK.

That’s what makes these mistakes so frustrating for me. I’d be able to wrap my head around it more if he was flapping at crosses or something but this seemed totally unforced. I should watch it again because maybe there’s a totally reasonable explanation for it like he sees a pass on but takes his eye off it for a hot second and then it’s too late to stop his movement.

All goalkeepers make gaffes every now and then. Allison has made more in the last month than Raya has all season.

Is it possible that that’s because you watch him a lot more than others?

For me, he’s not the final answer for us an I won’t be surprised if in a year or two, we replace him with someone else and he becomes the number 2. But or now, it’s not broken so it doesn’t need a fix, especially when there are other areas of the squad that need more urgent attention.

Except the error yesterday, he commanded his area well and helped save our lead. And even over the course of the season, think he has saved us a lot more points than cost them. And he may even go on to win the golden globe. Overall, I’m quite pleased with him as our number 1 for now.

You guys just missed the most important factor here.
Arteta.

Be honest, any normal keeper would just clear the ball under that situation but this is the trade off to play from the back, to use the goalie as the last playmaker.

That is the major difference in between Rams and Raya I believe.
One feel comfortable to do so and the other doesn’t.

Arteta likes Kai and Raya very much basically because they execute what the manager wants.

Probably for Scorcese’s The Goalkeeper.

I just love how aggressive he’s at claiming crosses, it prevents so many more dangerous situations and potential saves you have to make than if you had a more negative keeper.

It’s also possible to fume at an error, which absolutely turned the tide of the game and gave us all a hugely stressful last 30 mins, without even thinking about ramsdale.

On top of that can even acknowledge how well he did after the incredible fuck up :slightly_smiling_face:

Raya will obviously get it. But look at the number of saves Pickford has had to make in comparison. Raya needs to cut the glove into quarters and hand bits out to his defence

Yeah shows how flawed and outdated the award is.

Should be changed into a MVP GK award, we have enough metrics to determine that

To Raya’s credit a little part of the reason he has less saves to make is because he has the best cross claiming completion % out of any keeper in Europe.
