Didn’t think we needed to tamper with the GK position tbh, but if we can break even on this then I really don’t mind it. Raya is a top GK.

This is the Arsenal we’ve needed for 20 years. Read so much rhetoric from fans about how you can’t have two top GKs in the same squad.
Well I say, there’s a first time for everything.
If you don’t want to compete for your spot, you know where the door is.
This should go for everyone. No more carrying players who just want to hang around for a salary.
Ramsdale deffo doesn’t fit this category btw, more so for folks like Elneny, but this is a sign that we’re finally acting like a big club.
The valuation we bring Raya in for will be very telling…anything above £30m and Ramsdale’s in trouble imho.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Ramsdale leaves by the end of this window.
Doubt he’ll be fine with spending one season on the bench when he’s just hitting his prime years.
Obviously I doubt Raya is happy to be on the bench too, that’s why I’m guessing he’s coming here as the new number one.

It’s a very surprising move. Ramsdale made some outstanding saves towards the back end of last season and showed some truly elite shot stopping / 1v1 ability. Harsh that he’s potentially being ousted.
But there are question marks over his ball playing ability. He’s sometimes awkward with the ball, taking too many touches and inviting pressure. He’s also got a blunder in him as well, and his positioning is sometimes odd too.
Raya on the other hand is almost like an outfielder. Super comfortable and confident.
The only thing I’m cocnerned about is “does this make our first team better?”. The answer is yes from me. Allocating our funds in an unusual way but it’s not my money. Feel like we’re not done either.

Evening everyone, hope you’ve all had a great week so far. Here’s a short video detailing everything you need to know about David Raya in 2 and a half minutes for those interested. Don’t think anyone could have predicted that Arsenal would be his next destination given the Ramsdale factor, but IMO he’s better than the Englishman. It’s better to do what Arteta is doing—keep both and bring in competition.
If Ramsdale is about to get upgraded on, I could imagine Gabriel is one of the first names next in line, although it depends a lot on the players available mostly.

I was saying, IF we sell Ramsdale.

I said before, I think it is way too eary to bin Ramsdale right now.
Ramsdale hasn’t been given a new contract just to be sold months later.

anyways I don’t think he will be sold as yet, maybe next season if Raya outperforms him this season.
Besides, Arsenal will be playing too many games across four competitions so having two top class keepers isn’t a bad idea.
We will be in big trouble if Ramsdale gets injured or loses his form in the middle of a tight season considering Turner will also leave.

It is just CL games replacing the EL games…
Fewer games in which a Turner-level keeper can play, as we’ll need a full-strength side earlier in the Champions League and hopefully we will also have a lot more domestic cup games than we have in the last two seasons.
Word is the Raya isn’t coming in to replace Ramsdale anyway. For now at least.
