Copa America

How on earth did Raphina not make that sqaud especially over the likes of Richarlison who is bang average.

Is anyone in South America actually good these days?

Teams like Colombia, Uruguay and Chile had some good teams in recent memory, but literally every decent South American squad I see looks to be in some decline. Stars getting old and new stars not filling in across the board but I don’t know enough about all the random players to know if that’s true or I’m just ignorant.

This Argentina squad really looks like the end of an era and that’s a team that was already looking worse every time I looked in the past few years.

I think across the board teams like Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and Colombia are weaker compared to five years ago.

They have an insane talent pool so I imagine that will chnage but it’s not helped by club football there being so poor right now

Great goal Messi

Although admittedly this tournament doesn’t feel the same. Great chance for Argentina to win it though…

Ended up 1 1 in a bad tempered game. Argentina wasteful without really getting any proper control of the match.

At least one Englishman scored today.

Better head of hair and beard than Kane too. That’s what really matters.

Torreira looking good to be fair.
Would’ve liked to see Buendia for Argentina too but he hasn’t made the squad once yet. Karma for not waiting for us and rushing in to sign for Villa. :grimacing:

This Messi guy is good.

Who?

Looking at Chile and Uruguay, both teams peaked about a half decade ago.

Uruguay cycle is over. Suarez and Cavani lead the line, Godin at CB. Chile will have to work on replacing the influence of Vidal and Sanchez too.

Some aged greats but the cycle is over now

Am I looking at the Copa America correctly ? 8 of the 10 qualify for the knockouts ?

Also they don’t have to qualify for it as there are only ten countries total in CONMEBOL

This looks more like one of those corporate football tournaments, where everybody’s there just to have a good time.

All taking off in the 2nd half of Brazil vs Chile, Brazil go a goal up but then Jesus gets sent off.
