Yes, but it’s been a cracking game. Two countries that don’t care for each other and some stakes involved. Always going to have a lot of cynical fouls.
If they ain’t using our Arsenal boys, then I’m more than happy to see Brazil underperform.
Yeah, I get that, but it kinda spoils what could’ve been a better watch had both teams cut out the rough stuff a bit.
The final of the Copa America that Argentina won vs Brazil was one of the worst games I’ve ever seen Just an absolute scrap of a game with very little flair or excitement as we seem to expect from South American football.
it was genuinely awful man.
The most recent Copa Lib final was also horrendous iirc.
Emi did it again. Might be the best goalkeeper ever when it comes to penalties.
At this point, Messi should just donate half his wealth to Emi.
Funny both the goats had to rely on their keepers to save them from the embarassment of missing a crucial penalty.
Messi did it in support of Ronaldo.
GOAT GOAT
Brazil v Uruguay featured 41 (!!!) fouls. Some pretty disgraceful shit—joga bonito, it was not.
Several yellows and Uruguay had a player sent off.
As the game headed to pens, Lalas from the studio quipped it’s a shame that both teams can’t lose based upon the display.
Brazil are going out in the quarters. Yikes.
Martinelli about to head to Marbella.
Edit: still alive, and our boy does his part.
I caught most of the second half. Thug life.
Yes. It was wrestling match and some occasional football broke out.
I wonder if Uruguay will employ the same disgraceful shit against Columbia or try to play?
The headline when S American teams are squared off is usually some free flowing football, flair, etc. The reality is too often stoke city ball.
True. There’s no shortage of ability with these guys, so I don’t know why it turns into a hackfest. Christ, even a barney as they were gathered for the shootout.
Seriously why can’t Brazil actually win? What’s the problem?
Ronaldinho was right. You look all across that Brazil team and it’s so average. Not one player you can compare with the players of yesteryears. Arguably the worst Brazil team I’ve seen in my 25 years of watching football. Not really shocked to know they went out to Uruguay.
They were shocking after going up a man.
Beyond that I think it’s fair to question why Junior played Vini in that last group match. He got a card and was suspended playing a match he didn’t need to play in.
Honestly, I think all us oldies have a romantic view of Brazilian football from the superstars they produced in the past. They’re just not elite anymore.
The last time they got past the QF’s in the World Cup was the 7-1 result. Apart from that it’s just QF appearances where they bomb out. In the Copa America they’ve won it in 2019 but if you inspect their previous entries there’s some shocking results in there.
They’re just not a top nation right now, it’s sad to see. But results don’t lie.
There’s no Vinicius Junior so that should be kept in mind, but if this line-up showed up in the WC. Would you fear it?
