This competition was like watching football in the Olympics, it’s nice to see top quality players and some entertaining games but no one really cares who wins.
But it’s funny listening to the commentators desperately reminding us how important it is.

Serious competition or not, Chelsea won a fuck load of money, and beating PSG in the final must be special. Let’s hope this impacts their upcoming season, I think it will.

I think the Club World Cup is only going to get more investment moving forward tbh. I think it is a serious trophy and will only climb up the ranks in due time.
I view it in a similar way to the Super Cups. It has a bit of a league cup vibe to it as well in the sense that the smaller teams will probably take it seriously as they have a chance to upset the big boys who aren’t taking it as seriously.
Unless the quality of football outside Europe becomes much higher, I just can’t see how it’s viewed as a serious competition any time soon.

I don’t think the investment for it paid off this time.
Lots of games with half empty stadiums, the tournament wasn’t even televised globally. DAZN ended up picking it up in the UK and in other countries there wasn’t even a legal way to watch this.
I’m sure FIFA want this to be the pinnacle of club football but there is lots of work to do to make it seem that way.
