Chelsea

Think the owners are suspect tbh. Keeping Potter even if he keeps losing seems like something they’ll do.

Their owners will have written off the season and have probably already got someone lined up.
It’s unlikely they’ll sack him yet because any decent potential manager will already be in a job.
When he goes, Potter will have plenty of clubs after him and I’m sure he’ll do well at West Ham. :grinning:

I really don’t want to have to face the wrath of a new manager bounce again this season

anyone remember the football hooligan guy we had at one point, always claiming to be fighting in the stands?

Their boss is still a chocolate teapotter. He puts his barn door specialist up for the spot kick, and even then, took a couple of attempts to hit the target.

Dortmund folded like the corn-fed feeder club they are. Useless once they fell behind. I was a string of fortunate decisions that went chav’s way that gifted them the tie. Nothing of their own making.

The draw itself was fortunate.

I think losing a very in-form Brandt and replacing him with an ice-cold Gio Reyna was probably the bigger issue. He got subbed at like 5 minutes.

Glad Potter has bought himself some more time at Chelsea. Hope he sticks around atleast till we play them.

2 levels down

I think a bigger problem is Dortmund were just crap in general and subbing in some random 18 year old to rescue the match isn’t the sign of a serious club.

Yeah. When you’re playing Gio Reyna and Haller up front along who can’t complete 90 minutes (with very good reason) with a 600 year old Marco Reus, it’s not great.

That said, I didn’t think Chelsea were any good last night either.

Another title for Bayern coming right up!

Thought Haller was there because 700 year old Modeste was injured…
Don’t know what they think as they used to be smart in assembling a squad.
How could you challenge anything by having Modeste and Haller as starting #9?

anyway, Adeyemi did not play yesterday, probably injured also

I don’t think Haller getting cancer was part of the plan.

Not spending Haaland money or the potential 100 million on Bellingham definitely was.

They did spend it though. They bought Haller and Adeyemi along with Nico Schlotterbeck and Sule on a free. They were absolutely on fire the last few months before losing last night. I know you don’t think much of them but the way they put this roster together is better than any roster they’ve had over the last couple of years.

Sule for free…
Schlotterbeck, 25m
Adeyemi, 30m
Haller, 31m

not sure that could really cover the loss of Haaland, especially Haller is already 28, and a journeyman.
Adeyemi (and Schloterbeck) is still young.

Core players like Reus and Brandt are injured prone.
Can is over the hill.
Of course, Sule is shit.
Reyna, not able to lock in the starting place…

Except Adeyemi, I don’t see who they are trying to groom and build the team around.

Nothing can cover the loss of a player like that in a one for one.

They brought in a guy in Haller who scored plenty of goals in Holland and a young player in Adeyemi who they could build around.

Can may be over the hill but he’s been playing much better during their good run of form and Brandt has also been on fire. Reus is injury prone but has been reduced to a peripheral figure.

Reyna hasn’t been able to lock in a starting place because Brandt has been so good. He’s also been hurt.

I’m not saying their roster build is perfect, but when you look at some of the bad moves they’ve made in past years, this roster is way better.

But how good is Haller really? He was a whatever player for West Ham. Scored some goals in Eredivisie but that hasn’t been worth anything since Mateja Kezman.

I wonder how different their transfer policy would be if there was consistent threat to their position in the league. This club went to a CL final a decade ago.
