They haven’t played against eachother at all yet?
Ohh, that’s very nice.

Reece James….. Statement game from them …… a draw against the arsenal :+1:

Yeah, what was that all about. Reminds me of Caicedo saying the proved to be the better team when they lost to us a couple months ago.

Serious inferiority complex when they see us.

I was very disappointed with the performance given the standards of this current team tbh, thought we were sloppy all over the pitch with poor passing etc. A team as good as us I expect to make a man advantage look like it even against Chelsea away..

In isolation a draw at a top 4 side in Chelsea with a midfielder at 9 and both first choice CB’s missing isn’t a bad point, also sitting 5 points clear in early December given our schedule thus far + injuries is fantastic.

But yeah when they went down to 10 I thought we’d come away with the win and deflate the rest of the league.

I know it may sound silly, but the absence of both Gabriel and Saliba played a massive factor in our overall struggles, even attacking wise.

The bad start from the Mosquera and Hincapie unnerved the whole team, especially the midfield.
First phase while 11 v 11 was extremely poor with Mosquera and Hincapie often panicking and gifting the ball straight to Chelsea.
Even they grew into the game and Chelsea were allowing him more time and space, there was still an awkwardness from the team, fearing the potential counters.

Not without reason because Chelsea are at their most dangerous when countering, both Mosquera and Hincapie were carded and the Chelsea players were certainly targeting Hincapie for a potential second yellow. MLS who was brought on to cover for Cala’s yellow, got himself carded soon after coming on, and he actually added nervousness.
I feel one of the main reasons Merino was pulled back into midfield was to account for Hincapie and MLS struggling.

CBs are like Artetas most favourite and most prized important thing.

So both being out really compromises the team

I’d say yesterday could serve as a seminar of how important a defence is in general and how it can indirectly affect multiple phases of your game.

Similar to when Holding had to come in for Saliba in a title race and I had opposition supporting mates telling me it made no difference

I regret that Sporting match where we lost both Saliba & Tomiyasu so much. If we had not lost them, we would have won the league.

That’s exactly what happened. I felt sick when I saw Saliba was a late omission from the starting lineup. And you’re right, Hincapie and Mosq looked unsettled at the start (and I’m surprised that Arsenal didn’t have anyone get sent off).

Arteta’s game plans are built off of that solid defensive platform, so it’s no surprise that the team looked out of sorts. Throw in the Chavs being up for it and uneven officiating and there you go. And yet, Arsenal still had chances to win.

Need Saliba back and Gabs asap.

All respect to Hincapie and Mosquera, but Chelsea don’t score that goal with Gabriel or Saliba.

As much as I love Gabriel and Saliba, didn’t they both ship 2 goals against Sunderland? We haven’t kept a clean sheet for a month tbf, which seems uncharacteristic of us as of late.

Aside from the Gabriel injury it feels like our side has been pretty settled recently and I think that helped us get some impressive results.

Gabriel, Saliba and Trossard have been in good form this season and it didn’t surprise me that we looked out of sorts without them. My concern at the moment is whether the loss of those players and the reintroduction of returning players will affect our cohesion. Yesterday we looked disjointed and lacked our usual swagger. No-one had a particularly bad game, but only Rice and Hincape had noticeably good performances.

It seems like Enzo and Cucurella are jealous of Madueke joining a better club.

Would have been touch and go imo

Yes we had that 6 point gap with 10 or 11 matches to go, but Etihad, Anfield and St James on the run in was always going to be difficult.

But yeah we wouldn’t have thrown silly points away at West Ham and home to Southampton

Now we only have Etihad left of those this season.

We put alot into the NLD and Bayern game in addition to dealing with key injuries, a point away at a top 6 side is a good result.

I feel if Chelsea had 11 we would have lost.
