Bye Charlie. I hope some day you sell for 30m and we have a 25% sell on clause.

Bye Charlie and all the best!!

Not too many young English players try to make their breakthrough in Spain that I know of. Interested to see how he gets on.

Not sure how true this is but that’s a great set of factors in the deal, should he turn out to be a big player out in Spain.

Probably a unique case because he has roots in Spain if I recall correctly. I think his dad is Spanish.

His surname certainly checks out as Spanish.

Good deal Arsenal has, even better than the Fabregas one.

Are you being serious about the Fabregas deal?

Not on the surface of it, but looking a bit deeper…

With the Fabregas deal we got first right of refusal and I don’t remember a sell-on clause with it.

If Patino turns out any good (you never know), we could take him back at an equal offer as any other club, or if he goes elsewhere - we get 50% from it.

So whilst £1m looks bad, in the long run it could be a healthy amount - even better if he turns out any good and returns to top flight football.

We sold one of the worlds best midfielders for way below his market value and then inserted a fire refusal clause that we never activated.

It was a shit deal because the inserted clauses were never used and the value we received from selling him fell way below his worth.

Yups, we’re on the same page! This Patino deal is much better than the Fabregas one.

If we’d exercised the first refusal on Fabregas it would have been ok as a deal.

Not bringing Cesc home when we had the chance is probably the biggest problem I ever had with a Wenger decision.

It was a bad mistake but personally think his decision to sign Xhaka over Kante was far worse. Fabregas would have improved our team, but Kante was a huge factor in Chelsea winning the league. I think we could have ended up with another league title had we signed Kante.

Nice article

3 games since arriving and only 1 of them a start.

Once dubbed the best academy talent we’d ever produced and at 21 he’s basically a nothing player at this stage.

Him and the 6 million other youths who are highly rated are the main reason I don’t tend to give too much credit to young players who are exciting until you see them do it for a couple seasons and develop in the process.
