Saliba?
I just rewatched the Mcarthur foul - still absolutely perplexed as to how that isnāt given a red. Itās one of the most blatant red cards you will ever see. Mike Deanās punishmentā¦heās not refereeing this weekend.
I donāt know how such a shit referee has kept his job for so many years. Itās an actual disgrace.
People will tell you that opinion is just Arsenal supporter bias.
So if they think that the error in not sending McArthur was big enough to warrant Dean being suspended, then why the fuck could VAR not have intervened on Monday? Only thing I thought is that maybe Mike Dean is too respected in the game by his peers given how long he has been around. Perhaps had it been Craig Pawson or someone, whoever was on VAR wouldnāt have felt so bad about undermining him.
Ugh itās why I hate VAR. There is still too much bullshit and opinion associated with it. Even if thatās the case you can still suggest he take another look in the monitor. As far as Iām concerned youāre not a competent ref if you see that (especially more than once) and donāt send the player off. Has the VAR ref also been shitcanned? Ultimately they are more at fault here.
I think Mike Dean is narcissistic enough to believe he didnāt make a wrong decision there.
As Shambo said, the VAR ref should have overturned it / forced Dean to watch it on the monitor.
VAR has gone so far the other way now that they wonāt overrule decisions unless thereās been a homicide on the pitch.
No idea how heās respected, shit referee.
Longevity
Exactly this. And the officials on VAR duties all shit theirselves at the thought of undermining the mighty Mike Dean.
The onfield ref is given way too much power. They still want to make a celebrity out of the onfield ref.
At the end of the day, you have the rule book. Just look at it and make a call. Why do we need the on field ref to run 12 km towards a small screen camera all tired to make an analysis?
In cricket, once the decision is passed onto the third umpire, The TU makes the call. There is no intermediate review by on-field umpire.
As I said previously, The most obvious improvements are implemented slowly.
Worst Arsenal player on the pitch tonight
you think he is playing with an injury? he looks a little tired tooā¦seems off.
Heās playing with a knock and barely trained this week if at all.
Heās looked sluggish all season
Would be wise to sit him for the next match, looking a bit tired and out of sorts.
Definitely doesnāt have anything to do with being run into the ground last season.
Probably more to do with being unfortunate enough to play for England
Hasnāt covered himself in glory this season Bukayo, still think his effort and work rate is decent which is something. Guilt edged chance he missed tonight, simply had to score.
He could definitely do with some time out to freshen up. Pepe isnāt in the greatest form though, needs must.
Feel like heās had one or two occasions this season where heās had a one-on-one situation with the keeper and completely fluffed his lines. Just tame, tired legs. Mad that Mikel runs him hard all the time, he clearly needs a game or two off.
