Arteta: His heart might belong to God, but his hamstrings belong to Arsenal F.C.

:folded_hands:.

It’s reassuring to read that his recent below par performances were because he was carrying something.

If he’s got past that now, he should be ready for the final sprint. Should be starting against Atleti both legs. We need him scoring goals in this run in.

That sub performance was a stinker lol.

Don’t think this is a lack of sharpness. He clearly isn’t right.

He’s saving himself for Fulham!

Anything less than four goals is an outrage, the amount he’s been saving himself this season.

Man had a massive injury, has come back not up to speed and not looking his confident self - shock! horror!

He is a class player and class is permanent, he will come good again

What massive injury did he have?

I don’t actually think he’s all that, even on form. He’s largely one dimensional, easily out muscled, slow to take the initiative and on current form, totally ineffective. If he’d been bought in, and not from Hale End, he’d be pilloried for not offering enough. He’s certainly no Jack Wilshere, who we were truly robbed of.

Absolute rubbish. 80 goals and similar in assists since he first broke through with 300+ games played. There are very few in his position posting them kind of numbers.

Saka was a legit world class player for several seasons up until the big hamstring injury. Wilshere was a precocious academy talent who had a great game against Barcelona. Not even comparable really.

Not sure how did he manage do end up in the PL team of the season in 2011 because of one Champions League game?

:pires2:

From 21/22 to 24/25 he had 47 goals and 37 assists from 128 PL starts… you’d be hard pressed to find a player in European football who had 84 goal contributions in 128 PL starts.

He suffered a serious injury last season and has carried injury problems into this season. He is a machine when it comes to output don’t let the fitness problems detract from that.

How many sub appearances did he have in that period?

He had a hamstring injury that required surgery - that is pretty significant as far as hamstring injuries go. His stats since then are not the same this season.

Then followed up by injuring the other hamstring (although not requiring surgery)…

Major hamstring injuries have high re-injury risk, so recently looks like the club have been managing that. Maybe others cannot but I can see why he comes back now and isnt up to speed immediately.

8 with 5 of them coming last season

Starboy needs to become StarMAN.

History defining 11 days of football coming up. Win the next 3 football matches in a row and I think we win the league and get ourselves to a CL final.

Saka needs to show up, he’s on the big money. He’s the face of this club. Stand and deliver my son.

I’m exaggerating of course but realistically he didn’t deserve to be in the team of the season that year and it was of course his only full season.

IMO, Wilshere was overrated as a young player during a time when England was starved for technical midfielders. He had wonderful technique but contributed next to nothing in the final third, was never a particularly crafty passer, didn’t have a high level tactical brain, and was easily physically overmatched.

Need a big month from Saka. Just hope he is over his injuries. Can’t imagine us winning anything without one of our star players contributing in the big games coming up, which is basically all the games.
