Bukayo Saka (7)

Am I being too harsh to expect Saka to do better here?

Saka barely had any time to react tbh. Unless he hits it first time. That said, I’ve been disappointed with his return this season and overall play.

Definitely a few levels below his best.

But he did the corner that led to a goal tonight.

I expected more from him in that situation too. Should have either taken the shot first time or sold the defender a dummy and then shot with his right.

I think that was the issue.
He thought about it for a second and that was enough for Bastoni to get to him. Great tackle btw.

Clear hesitation, big chance fucked up.

Didn’t mean anything, but he needs to find a couple of goals himself soon.

While this chance didn’t eventually matter, there will be games where we’ll rue such a miss. Not an easy chance like Martinelli’s fuck up against Forest a chance you expect your best players to take.

Can’t help but think if the roles were reversed and Saka had made the pass to Jesus, he would have converted.

He’s been way off form recently, but Inter and Di Marco couldn’t handle him last night.

Yeah.
Mind you Di Marco isn’t good defensively but they did the classic thing of putting 3-4 players on Saka every time he was on the ball, and it still didn’t matter. At times Saka even used all that crowding to his advantage and faked them into a couple of them jumping in at the same time, missing or crushing on each other.

Tore inter to shreds, had the beating of them every time he got the ball.

Saka has been brilliant lately.

Yea he isn’t scoring and isn’t bring credited with assists (lol that he gets that one last night) and that is skewing opinion but he is key and our best player. Rice is up there with him too.

He probably should have scored that chance though.

i dont think he is having that great a season this year, especially his finishing product. Its funny but only Trossard and Martinelli look more likely to score and them two were our weakest links before start of the season.

I’d agree. Delayed it just a bit when he is capable enough of taking that first touch and blasting from close range. An in form Saka has the roof of the net rippling.

He was excellent yesterday and probably our best player on the night. Relentless in beating Dimarco? and had that Inter backline on the ropes.

I was disappointed we didn’t score, in the heat of the moment, and he COULD have done better, but it’s not that bad at all. Happens even to best goalscorers.

Could have scored if he reacted quicker, bit it wasn’t such an easy chance.

This season he sucks, what has happened to you. Bloody man up…..the tip toeing around DO SOMETHING USEFUL!

Wasn’t he literally involved in both of our goals?

Pretty much any threat we had going forward mainly came from him.

Man Utd supporters were on the edge every time he was on the ball and for good reason.

He was getting triple teamed too a lot of the time and still producing.

If you just look at Sakas stats you will probably get annoyed but they are only telling a tiny bit of the story.

If he wants to bang in 15-20 goals/assists before the end of the season I won’t complain.

See how he compares to the top assister in the league:

Dude’s our best forward by some margin. We’d be well clear in the league had we had more forwards on par with him.

This is probably the worst spell of form he’s had in about 5 years. And even then he still creates space by default because he gets double / triple teamed. And he still does lots of dangerous things.

I don’t think we can win the CL without Saka at somewhere near his best. And the title race will get very tight if he doesn’t start impacting games again.

He’s our only certifiable game changing attacker. His output has to improve, specifically goals. He gets plenty of leeway from me given that he’s carried us for years on his back. But he needs to step up again, this is the critical moment.

Pulled his groin it seems.

They just showed (pre game show) the ā€œinjuryā€ he had during warm up.

Doesn’t look serious.

So a couple of months then?
