Poor performance and a poor season so far for Saka.

Haircut change is real.

Woeful in almost every opening he got. Even the goal he accidentally put in.

That chance he blazed over! Shocking

Stats are making him look better than he is. The Odegaard x Saka combo has passed its sell-by date and needs to be binned. Get a right-footer (ESR or Jorginho) to dovetail with Saka and switch up the service

I don’t care how ā€œgoodā€ when he cuts in…
The way him and Ode holding the ball and looking for a move/pass just takes too much time for opposing team to close us down, and take out all scoring chances.

How?!

He’s been putting up some good numbers but teams have started to adapt to him and our wing play to an extent

Last season what he and Martinelli were cooking on each side was fresh, not so much now

Would love to see him tried on the left. Switch it up a little bit to keep opposition on their toes. Arteta seems allergic to that though.

by merit, that’s it.

Was poor today but I have to defend him, he’s basically having to do things on his own right now. Our play has become so slow and predictable that we are giving him the ball right out on the touchline and he’s often already double or even triple marked and we’re asking him to essentially be Messi and find a way out on his own. We can’t keep giving him the ball in a prison and he needs help from his teammates. Also, why the fuck can’t Ben White overlap more, we have no one even going outside Saka to drag markers off him. It’s just awful atm.

The lack of overlap is definitely an issue on both sides

Arteta has to find solutions because we are very predictable now

I understand on the left because we have Zinchenko inverting, but if you’re going to do that on one side you can’t have the opposite fullback never overlapping, there is no balance and we basically give the ball to our wingers and expect them to dribble past multiple men and then we call them shit when they can’t do it. It’s the system that’s the main issue right now for me.

Yeah or Sterling in his prime. Saka is little strong like Sterling and should be able to do those hip wiggles and stiffarms like him. If it’s always just long run wide or slow cutback, even I could defend that.

Both Saka and Martinelli get doubled up easily if they cut back into the middle. It allows the defense to recover. They need to take it to the line more but then we have not one in the middle (donde estas Jesus?), or have some one from the midfield penetrating.

Because they are wrong footed, so they could not go deep and use their weak foot to cross.
Saka is better, his right foot is getting better and utilizing it more. Marti is just bad. Rarely use his left, and that’s why he has to cut in 90% all the time.

IMO Kai running in to the box is crucial because either Jesus dropping back to get a CB out, or Saka/Marti getting double team and there is space in the box.
Unfortunately, our players are reluctant to make that over the top through pass, and there are enought evidence to prove that.

They are still ā€œlearningā€ to play with each other.

You would think that a professional player would be working on their weak foot but understand your point.

Whether it is Havertz making runs into the box or over the top ball we are static and movement is non existent.

We also have no one that is a threat to score outside the 18 which could open up things.

Lets hope we can get a midfielder to help out Rice in the transfer window.

It is really not my business if the players want to improve their weak foot or not. It is up to them and they are paying the price for being too one footed.

We need a more versatile wide player other than Trossard.

We still have Jorginho on the bench, so we are not desperate to get a midfielder. On paper we also have ESR and Vieira, and Partey.

I agree about Trossard but Jorginho, to me, is not the answer. If ESR was played I would agree but Arteta does not trust him otherwise he would play him. Wish it was not the case. Viera to me, is not a midfielder to my liking. Partey is a no show and I am not counting on him.
