Bukayo Saka (7)

You know, could see him slotting in perfectly here with all his England colleagues. Alas, that opportunity is long gone now.

There are very few international managers who top clubs would want, so I don’t think this is really much of a mark against Southgate’s name.

Do you think other international sides will be falling over themselves to sign Southgate if he left tomorrow?

Probably not, but a significant factor in that is the fact that most national sides tend to favour coaches from their own countries. England aren’t appointing a foreigner of Southgate’s calibre, it’d have to be a Capello, or at least a Sven Goran Eriksson. Brazil aren’t appointing a manager of Tite’s calibre if he isn’t Brazilian, and so on.

So again, that’s not a huge mark against Southgate’s name either, imo.

A poor performance in Euros might see Southgate leave and why Potter hasn’t got a new club yet. :grinning:

The thing is Tite’s achieved immensely more than Southgate as a manager.

Belgium and now Portugal hired Roberto Martinez. If Southgate is not of the calibre of Martinez (which he isn’t), should he really be manager of England?

He has, but Brazil aren’t appointing a foreigner with his achievements, imo, which is what I was getting at. Apparently they are considering appointing a foreigner and it’s Ancelotti. Thats the sort of level they’re looking at.

Martinez has worse tournament record than Southgate with a Belgium squad which was either as good or better than the ones Southgate has had, if I’m not much mistaken, so I’m not sure I even accept the inital premise that he is a better manager than Southgate. Not internationally, which is what is specifically relevant to this conversation.

So by this assessment, Southgate could be the next Belgium manager or the next Portugal manager but what I am saying is he wont be because he’s not rated highly enough anywhere, regardless of nationality.

cool story Ray.

rest him vs Everton.

atleast start with him on the bench.

you fucks.

Goodison is a tough ground for us, we have a spotty record there I feel.

Saka will 100% start bro. And we have to.

He does need a rest but then we have a midweek CL game against PSV.

Managing his minutes is a whole another aspect to management that Arteta is yet to have lots of experience in. He needs to show his mettle this season.

He’s playing the full 90 and there’s nothing you, me, or anyone else can do about it

Ray did not say if Saka was training or not.
Maybe he was just chilling there.

If Arteta ruins this guy’s career I will destroy him.

Why would you even speak such blasphemy into existence? Bukayo will get better and better and be a talisman of club and country for the next decade until it’s time to pass the torch on to the next star boy.

Ameen

We should move for El Ghazi

One game on the bench wont kill him.

My fears have come true. This guy will end up with a long-term injury at this rate, or he’ll be cooked by 25.

We should still have enough firepower to topple Everton. Though, we haven’t won there in about 5 years.

The same injury that Southgate brought up back in June. And then was so bad that he was brought on as a sub in the latest game
