Well it’s definitely capped at how much you can lose over a three year period.

£100m is too much though. Our budget isn’t limitless and we need to bring in a midfielder AND striker that elevates our ceiling.

I voted ‘no’. Not sure he has the right temperament to not lunge into tackles too late and potentially get reds, which will cost us in key games.
Also depends on the price. If it’s north of £50m we should target others instead.

I don’t think anyone will be paying that for him…if Newcastle need to sell, as rumoured, then clubs would negotiate a transfer fee rather than pay the release clause.
His RC can be paid over 5 years I believe.
Why pay £100m over 5 years, when a club could potentially negotiate a smaller fee for the player on a similar payment basis? If the rumours are right, Newcastle may be forced to sell one or two of their best players. If someone comes knocking with £60-70m they may not be able to refuse the offer.

PSG, City and us are interested. PSG could very well decide that they don’t want to enter a bidding war with us and City over him.
I do agree that City and Arsenal won’t activate his RC.
