Bret Hart Was Quite Good

I used to fast forward Taker’s.

Especially since:

A) Rollins and Punk are on TV every week, there’s nothing special about them being there to justify massive entrances.

B) The segment was a quick promo and pull apart brawl. That doesn’t need PPV pageantry.

I was so relieved at Mania 33 when he came up through the floor halfway up the ramp.

So I don’t watch WWE obviously. What’s with fans singing entrances? That probably doesn’t help with this shit taking long.

It’s been happening more but it’s insufferable with these European crowds.

I got curious:

Even the “The Game” entrances are shorter than the ones in the video above. Damn man.

Honestly, it should either have been Reigns v Punk or Reigns v Rollins.

I was still a bit hopeful the feud would be good regardless because there is indeed a story there with The Shield and Punk. However, based on yesterday the premise is Reigns being hurt that Punk eliminated him from the Rumble and Rollins just hates both dudes?
This the best they can do? They couldn’t put less effort into this if they tried to. Feels like a way to keep everyone involved happy.

Neither of those matches should happen. Punk Vs Reigns has very little appeal without a title involved. There’s absolutely no story left to tell with Reigns and Rollins.

With Heyman involved I’d say there is a story with Punk and Reigns.

And with Reigns and Rollins I think there is one big match left there, and they’ve never faced each other 1v1 at Mania.
Frankly, they’ve been building on it for some time.
Their last match ended in DQ back in RR 2022.
Rollins has made it his personal goal of his to stop the Bloodline and helped Cody end Roman’s reign last year. They’ve had multiple wrestlers call out Rollins for being responsible for creating this version of Reigns after he backstabbed The Shield. Rollins took out Reigns in this year’s RR.

Personally, I would have saved Reigns v Punk for down the line, and do Reigns and Rollins at Mania this year.
Ideally I would’ve had Cody being Punk’s match but that’s Cena’s match now. In hindsight, I would’ve had Punk going after Gunther.

No to all of that, quite frankly.

So what would you have done for Mania, in general with the card I mean. What would be you marquee matches?

I’d have held off doing Reigns Vs Sikoa for Mania given that that’s the story Reigns has been working since he came back at Summerslam and the match they actually did have pretty much did nothing for either man. Instead it looks like a nothing match for Sikoa against Jacob Fatu who is at this point comfortably one of the most overrated performers I’ve seen in many years.

Since Punk isn’t going to have his main event this year (if this wanky triple threat goes on last at night one it’s highway robbery) I’d have him wrestle and lose to someone up and coming like Breakker.

Rollins, I’d have losing to Gunther. Possibly even squashed by Gunther to launch into another six months at least of Gunther as champion.

I honestly thought that powerful spear that Breakker planted on Reigns in the Rumble and the subsequent elimination of Breakker by Reigns might have been the start of something brewing.

Interesting shout, not sure if you’re aware that Punk is also mentoring him behind the scenes.
Personally he’s the one that I’m thinking should retire Punk so I’d delay them facing off for a bit.

I’m glad he’s doing that behind the scenes because he’s certainly not putting anyone over on screen.

WWE didn’t capitalise on it but don’t you think Drew benefitted from their feud?

How is he in a better position now than he was before?

I’d say right when he returned he was in much better position before WWE decided a feud with Priest was the way to go.

Raw starting at 8pm tonight. Might have to give that a watch.

It’s too long for me to bother watching a whole episode but I might watch a bit
