I wonder how much that affects their WM plans. I doubt Lesnar was coming back without some concrete plans in place.
Logic says he was scheduled to face Gunther but then there’s that SI report which implied that won’t be the case. Mind you, that report has since been updated to mention that they were deliberately misinformed on that matter.
Suffice to say, I’m very excited about the Rumble tonight. I haven’t looked forward to a WWE event like this one in many years. Build has been top notch and they’ve done a fantastic job to keep you guessing on which direction they take.
There’s like 4-5 potential winners for the Men’s Rumble which makes it very interesting.
CM Punk, The Rock, Gunther, Cody and Drew being the dark horse in it.
I have to respectfully disagree about the quality of the build to this Rumble.
The last full show I watched was Survivor Series and when I’ve watched the “highlights” it’s pretty clear there’s not much going on.
There are different possible Rumble winners, but none of them are great prospects.
Cody - No matter how they try to build it, I’m just not having that he’s the guy to take the title off Roman in a satisfying way.
Rock - you don’t need him to win the Rumble to face Reigns.
Punk - This could also apply to Rock, but an old part timer shouldn’t be winning the Rumble. If Rollins isn’t fit for Mania it’s pretty unjustified for him to get a world title match at Wrestlemania. It would have a real Batista winning in 2014 feel to me.
Beyond that you’re into outsiders. Gunther is tremendous but you’d have to rush the IC title reign or push it to the side and that would be fairly disappointing. I’m not feeling it at all with Drew this year.
Haven’t watched a full AEW show in so long man. In the past I would’ve at least checked some specific segments but I just can’t be engaged.
I have heard good things about Joe as champion mind you which doesn’t surprise me. Maybe I’ll check Revolution if they have a good card. I know there’s speculation that Sasha and Okada may be presented as nee signings.
It’s not really to do with Punk. I haven’t watched much in general. It’s been a bit of a lull in the product as it often is before Wrestlemania season gets going.
I’m not enthralled with Punk being back, you’re right. But I just haven’t watched his stuff which makes it easy not to be annoyed by him.
An interesting development over a potential crossover tonight:
It’s been rumoured that someone from TNA will be in the Rumble. Logic said it would be some known former WWE name like Dreamer, Mickie James or Gail Kim. We’ve seen that before. However, it’s actually a wrestler that has never wrestled in WWE before.
Jordynne Grace is scheduled to be in the women’s Rumble. This certainly adds more fuel to the rumours that TNA and WWE may be working together. TNA has already teamed up with Endeavor(WWE’s parent company) for their streaming service.
