Better Call Saul (spoilers)

The final episode was great but I didn’t find the actual ending satisfying tbh

I get it. For me i wanted Jimmy to redeem himself. He did so and he gets to live out his life behind bars and kind of doing something he loves with the baking. I found it way more satisfying than if he’d got away with it or the short sentence and we’d be left wondering about some future spin off. His story is told now

That’s how I see it at least.

For me the “making good” of Saul to jimmy as a redemption story line was the right move but poorly executed. I agree to see him evade police and get extracted would be lousy but the plotline we actually got didn’t really make sense.

Finding out kim had confessed to their roles in Howard’s murder was the trigger for the “death” of Saul bit thin. His co counsel didn’t mention it to him at all in omaha before the proffer meeting and he definitely he would have known about what Kim did. We’re talking about post BB Saul so he would have been exposed to tons of violence, lies, murder and crime but never once was close to turning back to Jimmy.

I think it would have made more sense to push the Feds too far in the proffer negotiations and take his case the trial with the Jury he was banking on unfazed by his lies about his involvement, they return a unanimous verdict against him. That’s a more effective and definitive way to “kill” Saul, in the legal arena with his own freedom on the line.

I was really put off by the prisoner bus scene too, yeah I get it he got alot of criminals off so he would have a good reputation with them and in prison but he would almost be expected to assist other prisoners with the legal cases under the threat of violence, he’s not certified but that wouldn’t matter he still has the knowledge and they still clearly see him as a lawyer. He’s not affiliated with any gang so would he just do his time quietly without any reference to the tons of legal issues in prison?

Kim got involved with helping legal aid cases but jimmy can bake bread for 86 years? Gen pop in a federal supermax is not a fun place to be at all, the show acknowledged this through Sauls’s request to be placed in a light facility, I feel they gloss over the harsh realities of prison life tbh

Not disagreeing with anything you said, I’ve always liked that there’s different elements and angles to interpret about the show

Just my venting take, it was a great finale though. Highly enjoyable series, I want more from that universe but where do take it now

I wouldn’t disagree with anything you said either. I’m just more easily pleased.

Excellent show and a good ending. It perhaps wasn’t the ending we wanted but it was thr right ending.

We often see it with great shows- Line of Duty, Ozark, the Sopranos. The ending we see we don’t like because we don’t actually want the show to end.

I wonder if that vacuum guy (the fantastic actor who played the broker in Jackie Brown) was still alive in real life that we’d have had a different ending to Better Call Saul.

I’m only 9 episodes into season 1

You’re watching it the right way, believe me. Stacking it up so you don’t forget the characters

Greatest show I’ve seen and the best I’ll ever watch. Simply masterful.

Bravo Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan for crafting this unforgettable story and universe alongside a truly brilliant cast and crew.

Into my final season and I didn’t anticipate Howard’s death
Felt so bad for that character.
