Well this finals looks a foregone conclusion doesn’t it?

Based on historical stats, Mavs have literally no chance now. Not that they really did anyway, Boston has an elite starting 5.

Honestly though, it’s been an absolute snooze-fest of a finals. I’ve barely been able to maintain any interest in this series.

I watched game one, by the 2nd Quarter Boston were up by 30 at one point and just went to bed. Sums it up for me.

ESPN were trying to sell it by suggesting the injury to Porcelaingis might give Mavs the advantage.

I haven’t bothered to watch any of these finals.

Brian Windhorst (of ESPN) was cooking Luka postgame. If I can find the clip I’ll post it.

I can’t remember the names of he ESPN anchors, as I only watch on the rare occasion, but there was a lot of criticism this morning for him fouling out, saying that it cost them the game and the championship.

Cs raising the 18th banner is inevitable.

Fuck the Lakers.

Windhorst is a clown, can’t stand the guy. Luka is the only reason the Mavs are even in the finals.

tbf, he did say that Luka is a great player but his point was more that Luka needs to grow up, stop complaining about the refs and play better defense.

Oncic has no D.

I copied that from NBA Hoops forum…

People used to say Irk Nowitzki had no D also

Mavs will be back but yeah, sobering.

Portland really gave the Celtics #18 for two pints of lager and a packet of crisps

As if every player isn’t barking at referees though. Luka’s defensive issues are overstated too. Very few heavily offensive guards are known for their D. Windy is just being a typical ESPN talking head really.

I think Dallas deserve more of the criticism for not putting better players around Luka more regularly, it’s clear now he can get them to the big stage if he has enough help.

Overall, I just think Luka criticism really ignores the elite starting 5 Boston has put together. I struggle to think of a stronger starting 5 in recent times.

I think they’re a year or two away tbh. I didn’t really think they’d get to the Finals this year. Might have come too early.

Curry
Klay
KD
Draymond
Looney

Looney the real outlier there though.

I don’t think they’re better than those Warriors but they have an extremely strong, balanced starting 5 with a high quality guy at every position.

I’d say the Warriors small ball lineup with Iggy for Looney would be a better shout than their actual starting 5.

I agree with that regarding Iggy.

Still reckon that Warriors team was the most dominant I have personally seen.

Agreed, the KD Warriors were pretty much only able to be stopped by injury.

As much as I dislike the Celtics, you have to give props to Brad Stevens for the team he has built and I’ll be happy for Horford to get a ring and for Jrue to get another one.
