Following language and comments that were completely unacceptable, including some of an antisemitic nature in yesterday’s matchday thread, Luca from Italy is banned for one month.
We would also like to make clear to all members that discriminatory language of this, or any other kind is not welcome on OA. This is a site that we prefer to run with a minimum of moderation and regulation, however we cannot accept comments which cross the lines that yesterday’s did from Luca.
The length of this ban is a reflection of the seriousness with which we take making OA a site where all Gooners, and indeed all true football fans are welcome. It is also a direct consequence of Luca having failed to learn lessons from previous sanctions, albeit for lesser transgressions than this. Because of that, the following restrictions will also apply to Luca on his return (should he choose to do so):

Luca is permanently banned from any live Arsenal match conversation on OA, including match threads, player threads and any other discussion where a current game is the subject. This will include pre and post game periods, and if necessary will be enforced with temporary bans from the site to ensure this is not breached. Other matches, such as internationals, may also be off limits to Luca at the discretion of moderators.

Luca is on a final warning about his conduct. Any future repeat of this behaviour will mean a permanent ban from OA in its entirity.
Finally, we would like to emphasise that nobody that moderates on OA wants to see Luca, or any other regular member permanently banned. It is sad that this is the situation we have come to with Luca, and it is a situation which has not been helped by certain other members seeking to provoke these reactions at times. Members who may consider it funny to try to get such reactions out of Luca should, quite frankly, reconsider their postings.

Luca is banned again because he didn’t adhere to the above rules despite an actual warning/request to do so.
He’s probably run out of chances at this stage so maybe start saying your goodbyes next time he comes back…

After careful consideration by the entire moderating team, it has been decided that Luca from Italy will not be returning to OA and that his current ban will be made permanent.
This decision has not been taken lightly, nor is it a consequence of one incident. OA is not a site that believes on harsh or even regular moderation of conversation. However it has become clear that to continue to allow Luca to post on OA would undermine the fundamental standards of our community.
Luca has had chances beyond counting to reign in his behaviour but has demonstrated beyond doubt an inability to do so, posting comments that go well beyond what can be accepted here in moments of overreaction. We have tried to support him to remain part of the community, putting in place restrictions designed to curb his moments of madness. Luca has not engaged with this process and has stepped outside these restrictions, making continuing to moderate him untenable for a team of volunteers like ourselves.
This is undoubtedly sad, Luca has been a part of our community for many years and he will be missed by many, including the admin and moderating team. We cannot though, set the precedent that unacceptable posting will be accepted without limit. Unfortunately there have been times when some have egged him on and treated his meltdowns as though they were entertainment. Those people should look at themselves and consider their conduct in future.
This decision will not be open to debate, and will not be revisited. We would like to draw a line under this and move on, and we wish Luca all the best in doing the same.

@arsenescoatmaker has now talked himself into a night off with personal PMs and needling mods in various parts of the forum.
This will not be discussed publicly.
@arsenescoatmaker has had his ban extended another 24 hours after returning from his suspension and trying to pick the same argument again.
@arsenescoatmaker has earned himself another timeout until next week.
He has now had a number of bans and this may have to be his final warning.
@BigWeng_4LYFE is banned until Monday having ignored multiple requests, public and private, to drop a topic and subsequently posting those private messages.
@DavidHillier is banned until tomorrow morning because he’s called me a dickhead for no reason five times since yesterday and ignored warnings to stop. He made his choice after I told him he’d be banned if he didn’t stop doing so.

Having racked up seven previous suspensions, received multiple warnings and having been told that his next ban would be his last @arsenescoatmaker is now banned for good.
Tonight he made ridiculous allegations and when challenged got personal as per usual and after being asked to stop continued going down that road time and again.
This decision is not up for debate or discussion privately or publicly.
