Thursday?
Is Riccardo fit again @Bl1nk ?
Assuming it.
If not it’s back to Timber.
Good shout on the Calafiori selection. Seems an ideal game for him.
Serie A watchers (@GC-Maniac @SRCJJ @Jesseviolin) are Atalanta a difficult team to play?
Very tricky schedule.
Should be a win, but need to play against City three days after.
1-0 or 2-1 win.
Why is this game on Thursday?
It won’t be easy away to a decent European team but a draw with no injuries would be good, especially having to play Man City in the next game.
Only game I’ve watched them in this season is the Inter one and they didn’t look good.
Looking at their league form too and it’s not great. Ideal we are playing them at the start of the season whilst they seemingly have no consistency.
Our European pedigree is shocking, so I’d expect a draw. Atalanta aren’t scrubs and they’re playing at home. But they have lost twice already this season.
It’s the new format
18 fixtures spread over three days, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 6 per day.
These are all on Thursday
Ffs we have only 2 days of rest before the City game.
We need to start this CL campaign with a win. Really annoying because we have an ultra high-intensity game on the weekend but we cannot afford to take any chances with rotation.
Any dropped points and I think rather quickly we will find ourselves playing catch up in this table trying to stay in the coveted top 8.
A win at Atalanta and a draw at Etihad - I’d bite your hand off right now. Can only say that because we’ve dispatched Spurs.
They finished last season on top, top form. For me they were best side in Italy during that period.
There has been a lot of turbulence over the summer though. Key players looking to leave and others suffering key injuries.
I wasn’t impressed with their window either. Pretty uninspiring for a team that just won EL.
Good time to face them but the scheduling is not ideal with this game squeezed in-between Spurs and City away, and City get an extra day with all 3 of their matches in the same period being at home.
They haven’t looked great this season but then again it’s only a few games in,I think it’s a good time to play them.
I wouldn’t have been so sure a couple of years ago though.
Yeah, I didn’t think it was a particularly stellar window from them. I questioned the decision to pay nearly 30 million euros for Retegui but he’s about the only bright spark from the window so far.
Same lineup but think we go with Sterling over Saka and Timber starts at left back.
