It’s a shame it’s come to this regarding Wenger but it was always going to be the case when he signed the last contract past his used by date.
Anyone still supporting him is anti-Arsenal.

I’m not usually one for body language analysis but it was pretty stark watching Wenger sitting glum-faced on the bench.
He took a huge gamble not starting Alexis but an even bigger gamble (in my opinion) starting Coquelin and Xhaka as a midfield two. Both appear to be very limited players (Coquelin can’t carry the ball or run past people, Xhaka’s right foot has all the power of a bidet).
He also took a huge gamble starting Iwobi, a player who has really struggled recently.
The end result was a midfield that was totally disjointed and a compromised front line with a target man. We couldn’t hold on to the ball, didn’t play with any discipline and generally looked like a team of strangers. If this was the master tactical plan Arsene was working on since our last match it’s really disappointing.
I think he should resign or at least announce that he’s not signing the new deal. It would probably weaken our negotiating position with Ozil and Alexis but I’m over it. Someone on Twitter made the great point that Arsene has stayed and failed long enough to make supporting Arsenal boring. Sports is supposed to be interesting and following Arsenal just isn’t interesting any more.

Yeah i think he’ll call it quits this time around. It would be cool if we could win the FA Cup and go out like that.
Let’s hope he calls it quits, if we were s proper club with proper ambition it wouldn’t be his call to make though & that’s the annoying thing.

Now you see the point I’ve been making for the longest time Aussie. Wenger is not the ultimate issue, it’s the decision makers that scare me more. Why on earth would there be an extension on the table if these guys cared they’d be trying to spare Wenger the embarrassment of continuing. And these are the guys everyone have faith in to bring Allegri or some other hot shot manager in? Lol ok.

No, it’s much different than last time. We had just purchased two amazing players, ended our drought, and things looked more positive.
The announcement of his departure could be the last good gifts to Arsenal after the 15 trophies won, the Emirates and the great players bought during his 21 years with us.

Eh, there would be equally as many people saying that Wenger was doing enough if this season wasn’t such a complete mess. Just suddenly have his contract run out like it’s nothing would be seen like they’d be gambling on the future for no reason at all.
I can’t wait to hear about how the fans were the reason we lose to Bayern this coming week. The atmosphere at home will be pretty unpleasant and even though the players pooped the bed today vs. Liverpool, I put this loss 100% on Arsene.

Didn’t watch it, and knew that when I checked the score, it would be a result like this. Our ‘bottle it’ ratio must be through the roof for a club of our stature, it’s surely Wenger’s biggest problem, our inability to actually win a big game when in a ‘can’t lose’ situation. Then, when it doesn’t matter anymore, we turn in something magical.
Surely then, Wenger lacking the ability to psychologically instruct is a bigger fault than his tactics? The problem perhaps is being a ‘soft’ leader is all well and good for developing players and having them like you, but it doesn’t instil the right winning mentality. God, did I just say - Winning mentality. Yeah I guess I did.

I think his support is basically gone now.
It’s no longer Wenger out vs Wenger in, it’s more like Wenger out vs fuck off you cunt vs hey he doesn’t deserve such disrespect.
You surely can’t keep a coach who’s got basically no support from the fanbase. He’s setting himself up for a big fall if he signs for two years.
If he announced he was leaving basically on the 1st of June (or whenever the official expiration date is) he might avoid some of the flak for the Sanchez and Ozil situations which would then be on the club. If he stays and they both go then he’s officially the coach that took us backwards.
