Arsène Wenger

Someone still loves him and you too could show your undying love…for a price…Saw this on ebay…maybe John Cross(mirror cunt) can buy it for his bedside cabinet.

Mate, clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United are still using fucking fax machines to get business done as recently as last summer.

Says it all about the level of innovation.

Pretty sure most big football clubs use these kind of data these days, either by taking them from Opta, who are a big provider of these numbers or by hiring their own staff to do it. It’s just not that prominent on the eye as not all of them are going to promote it on their front page.

Tbf that’s what most clubs use. It’s quicker and you’ve got a time stamp on it.

I’m pretty sure Griezmann rejected us to join Atletico and KDB I’m not entirely sure when we should have been in for him…

When he was at Chelsea?
6 months after he joined Wolfsburg?
Or a year after challenging ManCity for his signing?

As you say there’s definitely more to it than the computer saying no.

Another poor article. StatsDNA have reported the stats of Gabriel when he was in Spain as “one to watch” and McDermott, our scout, has been sent to Spain to watch him. There are photos of him at El Madrigàl.

However, Gabriel was one of the best CBs of La Liga, attentioned by Barça.

17 goals conceded in 19 games (eight goals conceded against top fours), 9 clean sheets. These are huge results for a not a great club like Villarreal into an offensive league like La Liga.

Gabriel was a prospect and Arsenal has been intelligent to sign him.

It’s truly incredible when the people is convinced to have the truth in their pockets.

We are a sporting franchise whose directors have decided on a business model which they adhere to. Wenger keeps the cash machines turning over and spewing money . they have no intention of killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

Most clubs have something like this. Man City spent a shedload on there’s and someone who saw it compared it to ‘a bit better than whoscored’.

Gabriel did have very good defensive stats and he’s quick. His passing and decision making is suspect and we haven’t reigned those things in. When it comes to actually 1 on 1 defending he’s pretty good. Not a bad signing when you consider that Stones, Otamendi, Mangala, Sakho, Lovren all cost significantly more. Obviously should of got Alderweireld instead mind.

So we signed a defender with suspect passing and decision making when our system is based upon passing and good decision making?

I think it is hard to compare other purchases like this b/c if you are going to do that, then you should also consider all the reverse cases (small purchase that worked out great, etc.)… Regardless, it is all about spending OUR resources on achieving the best results on the pitch and to me Gabriel wasn’t a good buy… for 2 important reasons: 1) He is nowhere near good enough to rely on for regular basis as starter; and 2) When we bought him, it was basically him or Mert… and we ended up with Calum, Gabby, Moose, and Holding to add to Koss and Mert, none really good enough to play serious minutes for us except for Moose and Koss (with Mert fading).

It was buying too many of a insufficient level for non-trivial amounts. Calum was 16 million, Gabby 11 million, Moose 35 million, and Holding was cheap at 2 million. That is 64 million for a couple of prospects and one starting quality player and a bench player in a position that better deals are to be had.

But more importantly, we wasted time with not quite good enough defenses/DM - it was similar to our striker situation after RVP - we got quantity over quality and it never really worked out until Sanchez moved up top permanently (which created a different void at wing). We should have gotten someone like Moose earlier, maybe a Holding type prospect, and aggressively invested the remaining funds on other needs we have today… Don’t get me wrong, I like Calum, but buying him and Gabby in the same window looks like not awesome business in retrospect - hopefully Calum turns into top player (he seems to be progressing), but we need quality now.
