Arsenal's Best Possible Starting XI?

I’d have Martinelli in our best starting 11.

You can’t only look at careers and past records because current form is proving the most important thing at the moment.

There are many young and hungry players in the squad that deserved chances a month ago.

Saka, Tierney, Smith-Rowe, Martinelli, Balogun, Nelson, AMN and Saliba should be getting more prominence and more opportunities.

Obviously can’t play them all but clearly they’re the ones with the energy we need to revitalise the squad.

Most of the out of form experienced players need to take a blow. This will do them good too.

For me, in the short term we should switch between the 4-2-3-1 and 5-2-3 depending on availability and the opposition.

Yeah that’s pretty much how I’d go with our current squad.

I mean I’d probably have Ozil in the first lineup, but we know Ozil won’t play for us again so no point discussing it.

So we know Arteta has no idea what his starting XI is. And that’s not from the last 3 league matches but the entirety of his time here.
Injuries or not, he can’t stop messing with it.

What’s your best starting XI with the current lot all fit?

I wonder if the lineups here are more or less the same.

I have two possible lineups in my mind depending on who you go with up front with.

Pepe Aubameyang Saka
Torreira Partey Guendouzi
Tierney Gabriel Saliba AMN
Martinez

Leno, AMN, White, Gabriel, Tierney, Partey, Lokonga, Saka, Odegaard, Smith-Rowe, Aubameyang.

Leno, AMN, White, Gabriel, Tierney, Partey, Odegaard, Saka, Smith-Rowe, Pepe, Aubameyang.

The clearest shapes with the most quality in each position. We never get to see these lineups but ultimately they still need a good manager.

Backups still worth a damn (but can still become just as useless as our proven pathetic backups):

  • Ramsdale
  • Tavares
  • Xhaka
  • Laca

Rest of the bench and reserves are worthless to the squad or stupidly out on loan. Yet we have to rely on our long list of useless backups like Chambers, Bellerin like they’re first choice every week.

We need first team quality so that our backup squad is stronger (e.g. Lokonga in reserve as opposed to Elneny). There is no depth beyond the first XI.

This is why signing players like Trippier and Bissouma would be big for us now. We can’t base everything on shifting deadweight at this point we have to add regardless. We have too many missing from the first XI.

Yep, the drop off in quality from an already average first team is incredible. Goes straight to championship level.

Trying to think of the best way to make a team where everyone is quite strong and it’s tough because we haven’t signed a proper central midfielder. Maybe controversial I dunno but 5 at the back should surely work for this group.

Ramsdale
White Gabriel tierney
Amn partey saka
Ode rowe

Pepe auba

I don’t like saka being a wing back but he’s effective, holding and chambers have pissed me off enough to to this change.

Saka and amn will do either job of drifting in to help partey during defence or staying wide same with ode and rowe depending how the attack is forming. Just think it’s balanced.

Otherwise I’m removing pepe and have a similar team arteta would form with everyone fit in a 4 2 3 1.

All these lineups show that our only hope is basically to stay remarkably healthy and trot out more or less the same eleven all season. If we can start Gabriel, White, Partey, Sambi, Auba, at least two of Saka/Ode/ESR and a new RB every match then we can make Europa League still. If we have to dip much into the second eleven we’re fucked. I don’t even know what we’d if we were in Europe.

Good shout especially having Odegaard and Smith-Rowe in the middle creating.

Nah mate I love him, I agree with Pep, he is FAR too good for us Arsenal fans…I cannot wait until Barca or Real Madrid come in for the greatest manager in footballs history…

Seriously, you’re right, he is THE WORST football manager EVER…

Our team is quality af if we could only get some halfway decent leadership and coaching.

-----------------------Leno-----------------------
Takesan—White—Gabriel—Tierney
----------Partey----------Lokonga----------
Pepe------------Ödegaard---------Saka/ESR
------------------------Auba----------------------

Of course we’ve missed a lot of these guys through injury and our biggest issue is that piss poor midfield where I’ve not included Xhaka but no doubt he’ll be a fixture. So Mikel/Edu have gimped the team considerably due to their obsession with Xhaka. However this team should still be fighting for European places and quite easily at that.

If we go back to a 3 I hope we keep AMN, (hopeful thinking and bias here) but we could play Takehiro and AMN.

———————————— Leno ———————————-

—————Takehiro —— White —— Gabriel —————

—AMN —————————————————— Tierney —

I think this gives us the most defensively, and going forward with AMN already having good chemistry with Pepe and Tierney already being a beast down the left.

Plus In the event we change shape, AMN can cut in to CM and Takehiro can step out wide to RB.

My two best 11s depending on formation.

Mad that people keep crowbarring Pepe into the line-up and pushing our best RW to another position just to accomodate him. I like Pepe, but he should be the one making way for others. Had plenty of opportunities and hasn’t done enough.
