Houchen’s header, goddamn.

Did you know Clive Allen’s dad won a Cup medal with Spurs, too?

Great night at the supporters club in Melbourne, selected a good token match to head into town for. Pub was absolutely bonkers jam packed with fans.

As for the game, pretty much went as I expected, Arsenal on the front foot controlling play and Spurs looking to get us on the counter. The CM partnership of Partey and Xhaka absolutely destroyed Spurs. We do however need to eradicate these sloppy moments defensively that are costing us goals, needless actions that resulted in the penalty for Kane.

Big test vs Liverpool next Sunday, perfect opportunity for us to finally get a good result vs them and take another scalp.

Positives:

  • The result
  • Played the game like a big club should play, on the front foot, with intent and quality
  • Bossed the midfield. Partey is class as was that goal. Another excellent performance from Xhaka.
  • Saliba!!
  • Looked reasonably comfortable for the better part of 60 minutes against Spurs’ counter attacking threat
  • Still top of the table
  • No injuries (that we know of) so we can go full strength into Liverpool

Negatives:

  • Gabriel error for the penalty. It’s not the first time he’s made such a tackle in the box. Has to cut that shit out.
  • We seemed nervous for a period of 10 - 15 minutes after their goal and made some errors. Shows we can still be got at.
  • Personally, I would have loved to have beaten them 11 v 11. Had the score remained the same around 75 minutes with all players on the pitch, I think Conte would have given it a go. That would have really tested us and Arteta’s tactics.

Overall, it’s a well deserved 3 points. Would love us to do the double over them this season. COYG!!

Definitely with you on the first negative. I’m hoping at some point in this congested month we might get to see a White/Saliba partnership in the centre. Could be a bit of a wake up call for Gabriel and long term it might be a better option.

Well we don’t know what sort of team Arteta will field for our Europa League tie.

I’d make 9 changes and stick with Xhaka and Gabriel as the only 2 that played yesterday.

But we shall see what Arteta does.

I forgot that Spurs were unbeaten in PL coming into this game

Would love to see his actual stats. A rough guess is that 40% of his goals are pens.

Think he has 14 goals vs us and 7 are pens.

Agreed.

There have been several times where we have kept Kane quiet in our games but he gets on the scoresheet from a gifted penalty, or off a set piece.

I rate his ability as a top striker, but his goalscoring record is overinflated, for club and country, due to the amount of penalties he takes. I’m aware penalties aren’t gauranteed, but if you have solid technique and nerve you will score more than you miss (a minus score is even given in fantasy football because it’s almost a travesty to miss, and GKs get a big point boost from saving one).

So he’s breaking records for England, or matching Henry for something or whatever BS, but there have been so many opportunities where his numbers are cushioned from taking penalties or stat pad against low lights, so his records mean little to me

Yeah Harry Kane is an odious little cunt, been sick of him for a while with all of his attempted neck breaking antics

Yep was giving out about that yesterday. Dirty little prick.
