Arsenal vs R. Madrid (CL) 3-0

Why does this give me vibes of 08/09 Semis against United where the Emirates was electric and then the match was over in 11minutes?

I shouldn’t speak, don’t want to foreshadow shit.

Was kinda flat most of the time up until now, but getting a big game feeling slowly and getting quite excited and nervous.

Hoping for a big performance, and if result goes our way with a bit of luck that’s just a welcome bonus.

Ohh that unlucky Gibbs slip :sob:

He actually had a brilliant game against peak Cristiano, kept up with him one on one which was incredible to see. I was sure we had a new Ashley Cole on our hands at the time.

Be positive!

That probably won’t happen until next week in the Bernabeu.

Fabregas-Gilberto midfield. I miss it.

Flamini was awesome at left back that season. Considering he was a very raw central midfielder.

Gilberto was such an underrated player. I do love those kinds of players who just go about their business. Man was a beast.

As iconic as those two legs against Madrid were, I still think the 2-0 win over Juventus in the quarters was possibly the best Arsenal performance I’ve ever seen.

That Juventus team was (on paper) the best team in Europe that season with one of the greatest managers of all time at the helm.

No doubt in my mind that the Juventus win far surpasses the Real Madrid win when you look at the quality of the teams. That Real team had been in steep decline since 2003.

Whatever happens tonight i did try to get a ticket to ensure we at least wouldn’t lose.

Cant help with the semi finals though as will be on holidays :santi:

My abiding memory of that game, apart from the goals, was the way in the second half we just kept coming. I remember we broke on them at one point and you just saw us streaming past them and I actually remember thinking “Nobody does this to Juventus”

I actually went to my last game at Highbury that weekend and we clearly hadn’t calmed down and we stuffed Villa 5-0 :joy:

We’re unbeaten at home in the CL since returning to the competition. I know who I’ll blame if that changes…

Agree mate, wasn’t this also the one where a big thing about master and apprentice was made with Fabregas playing a pivotal role up against Paddy V’s return playing against us?

So many highlights from that seasons CL campaign, we should’ve won that so bad and to get dicked in the final like that still hurts. At that moment in time the only English team to beat both Madrid and Juve at home or something if I remember rightly.
