Just a win.. any way we can… please… just need to fake it until we get form back properly and bumble through. White used to give us a very threatening overlap with Saka, so maybe that would help. Love Timber and he is obviously our best in that slot, but he tends to drift in more and offer passing lanes while giving the width 100% to Saka (which I’m not sure is working great these days).
Ode - need a refreshed and spritely performance.. and of course, Mad Max is our ace in the hole for final 15-25 minutes.
Not just the bounce from the late win/Dowman story but also I don’t think we actually played badly against Everton, I saw some improvements in our attacking play.
Dreading the match today. Expecting another very difficult game a la Porto a couple years ago.
Leverkusen do not seem the same naive team as the one that started the season.
They seem to have no problem staying deep, bide their time and attack when necessary.
They beat City and Benfica away in the CL earlier this year. Group stage is different but they’re clearly a well-drilled side that can keep it tight and make it difficult.
I’d like to Trossard back in the team if he is healthy enough. I think Arteta got it exactly right against Everton in terms of the team but its left us in a position where the players most likely to start tonight are not the players we want if Leverkusen is parking the bus - Hincapie, Mosquera, Gyokeres. I don’t want to add Martinelli to that mix.
If White is healthy enough to start I would definitely consider it. We could use him in the final third.
As long as Max finishes all his homework, his mum said she’ll allow him to stay up late to watch the game on TV but little does she know that he sneaked off the school bus and is on the train to the Emirates.
