Shit law that yellows resulting in a red canāt be contested.
They really need to change the rules so that VAR can be checked for a second yellows and red cards resulting from two yellows can be overturned, like is the case for straight reds.
Both result in a sending off so thereās no good reason not to treat them the same in this regard imo.
That law benefits certain desired outcomes
Cough
City
Cough
Iāve taken a whole day nearly to reflect on it and have found myself waking up this morning to compounded hatred for the officiating of our game. Ffs
Pedro not getting a yellow for booting the ball away set the tone for how the ref should have officiated the game. If you let one player get away with it and then book another for the same thing - you are being a shit referee. You deserve criticism.
Rice putting himself in a position to get booked was naive on his part. He shouldnāt have exposed himself to the refās incompetency.
But we should feel very hard done by.
Feels like really big dropped points. City look imperious so this is a real blow.
Having slept on it and seen it again a few times, it does feel increasingly harsh.
Itās up there with Martinelliās two yellows in the same passage of play and van Persieās red in the Nou Camp as one of the most ridiculous reds Iāve ever seen.
Tomiyasu sent off for taking a long throw in as well. Funny how itās always us with these bizarre punishments, which you see every week escape any bookings.
Itās those three EPL decisions in what, three consecutive seasons, that weāll never see imposed again. Thatās what stings and thatās whatās so suspicious.
That throw in was his first yellow though, the second was for a (albeit very soft) pull back.
Very annoyed about the whole situation.
Now we gotta wait two weeks to put things right and itās a NLD too.

From that distance, should it be allowed to hit a defenders arm?
say sorry
If I remember correctly, he didnāt even touch him
Another pathetic call, the ball is not in close proximity nor is his hand tucked to the body, but apparently itās in a natural position.
That shot was going in in my opinion by the way
The ball was rolling.
So either Brighton had to retake the freekick, or the ball was already in play.
Neither situation Rice did not commit a delay of game.
Fuck the letter of law or whatever fucking law.
This is common sense.
The more I watch this, the more I believe Veltman should get a red.
Canāt believe people saying it was Riceās stupidity instead of Veltmanās violent conduct.
Same!
