Arsenal vs Brighton (PL) 1-1

Imagine VAR was fit for purpose

Shit law that yellows resulting in a red can’t be contested.

They really need to change the rules so that VAR can be checked for a second yellows and red cards resulting from two yellows can be overturned, like is the case for straight reds.

Both result in a sending off so there’s no good reason not to treat them the same in this regard imo.

That law benefits certain desired outcomes

I’ve taken a whole day nearly to reflect on it and have found myself waking up this morning to compounded hatred for the officiating of our game. Ffs

Pedro not getting a yellow for booting the ball away set the tone for how the ref should have officiated the game. If you let one player get away with it and then book another for the same thing - you are being a shit referee. You deserve criticism.

Rice putting himself in a position to get booked was naive on his part. He shouldn’t have exposed himself to the ref’s incompetency.

But we should feel very hard done by.

Feels like really big dropped points. City look imperious so this is a real blow.

Having slept on it and seen it again a few times, it does feel increasingly harsh.

It’s up there with Martinelli’s two yellows in the same passage of play and van Persie’s red in the Nou Camp as one of the most ridiculous reds I’ve ever seen.

Tomiyasu sent off for taking a long throw in as well. Funny how it’s always us with these bizarre punishments, which you see every week escape any bookings.

It’s those three EPL decisions in what, three consecutive seasons, that we’ll never see imposed again. That’s what stings and that’s what’s so suspicious.

That throw in was his first yellow though, the second was for a (albeit very soft) pull back.

Very annoyed about the whole situation.

Now we gotta wait two weeks to put things right and it’s a NLD too.

From that distance, should it be allowed to hit a defenders arm?

say sorry

If I remember correctly, he didn’t even touch him

Another pathetic call, the ball is not in close proximity nor is his hand tucked to the body, but apparently it’s in a natural position.

That shot was going in in my opinion by the way

The ball was rolling.
So either Brighton had to retake the freekick, or the ball was already in play.
Neither situation Rice did not commit a delay of game.

Fuck the letter of law or whatever fucking law.
This is common sense.

The more I watch this, the more I believe Veltman should get a red.

Can’t believe people saying it was Rice’s stupidity instead of Veltman’s violent conduct.
