Arsenal vs Bayern (CL) 2-2

Uphill battle in the second leg but losing 3-1 tonight would have ended the tie. We’re still in it.

Well 2-2 sure beats losing 5-1 but I’m not holding my breath for the return leg

Yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me if we go out away to Bayern by a single goal. We just look a completely different outfit in Europe. Some of the passing tonight was inexplicably bad.

If he had sold the dive better it could have been a pen

OOoh now I’ve seen the other angle, yeah I don’t think it’s a pen. I take it back ref, I hope you don’t burst into flames, I just hope you get real bad sunburn instead.

Tough situation.

Can’t search for the replay now, but it seemed as if he had given the pen no one could complain too much.

Yes, seems Saka definitely looked for the contact and could have reacted a bit better. Maybe could have went for the first touch finish, or even if he continued his natural movement the contact would still happen…
Even with all that, they could have given it, idk…

Getting a draw in the end changes the whole dynamic of the tie for me.

In a way, Bayern still have a pressure but are in a bit of an awkward predicament where they won’t be sure how to approach the game. On one hand they’ll want to be conservative like today but on the other hand they have to beat us within 120 minutes or it’s penalties.

Unlike Porto and City, I don’t think their fans will be happy with them not playing football so it could end up very nervy. I think them getting something a result here will make their fans even more dismissive of us and will want their team to take care of us like they did in the past.

I think had they won today, Tuchel would have said fuck the fans, I’m parking the bus at home and let the fans complain. Might be hard to convince the players now.

A frustrating result, but still not too bad.

Bayern are quite beatable at home too, we’re still quite in this.

As I said earlier today, we definitely needed a top defensive display looking at the sheere individual quality Bayern have up front. Sadly we didn’t have one.
Offered just a bit too much, and we got punished.

I hope we learn from this (for all future games) and control the return leg better.

Glad to see so many realizing it’s not a penalty. Saka clearly the one throwing his right leg into Neuer’s leg. Way out of position. Looked very unnatural.

Should have just rounded him and taken the shot.

Feels like a loss to me considering how their goals went in, especially the first one. We could absolutely get a result away from home. I think we’ll see a return to the low block from the City match tbh.

What the fuck was gabby upto picking the ball up from Raya, must’ve happened when i grabbed a beer from the fridge and didn’t even realise it was a thing until Tuchel mentioned it.

Watching the replay now…

Damn, Saka should have reacted much better.
The chance overall looks even much better now.

Seems he simply had one thing in mind and that was going after a pen.

Could have taken the shot first time, had a pretty good situation. Also could have rounded Neuer, pretty easily I think if he tried.

Wont hold it much against him. Great finish on that goal, looked bright overall, but that was a BIG chance.

Literally no player would be doing that if the keeper comes out and sticks a leg out and misses the ball lol

The above pic is this from other angle
It’s before Saka moves his leg towards Neuer

Not the result I wanted but still all to play for.

On the one hand its obviously a good result for them as they’re going back home. On the other hand, our nerves clearly showed and they had a chance to really sucker punch us and we survived that.

I think if we can get over our nerves and just play our game next week, we can beat them. Playing a less expansive game, more like how we approached Anfield and the Etihad, may actually help us in that respect.

That’s what we call, draw the foul.

Neuer stick his leg out and miss the challenge; and Saka has all the right to “draw” that foul, you call it intentional or not.

I do think it might be better to let them have a bit more of the ball, like City did to us last season. Bayern barely created anything outside of counter attacks and they held their shape well when we had our spells of possession. Let them commit guys forward and have a go at us and that should open some lanes for us going back the other way.

Is there a rule?

As a football fan, I personally don’t want to see this drawing foul bullshit.

if Neuer did not stick his leg out and made a move, your concern stands.
