Fuck it sign this Darwin kid, he’ll be a relatively unknown element and that’s been working for us lately, even if we have to pay up.
I just don’t add Sanchez or Neymar to the striker discussion.
I’m talking about pure blooded number 9s
Speaking of pure 9, How good is the tiny country of Uruguay when they were able to field Suarez, Forlan and Cavani in the same team.
Football’s a religion for the countries of the South American continent. Really doesn’t surprise me at all.
For all their religion, they don’t do much in terms of midfielders though
Shame they never had a midfield. Alvaro Gonzalez? Cristian Rodriguez? Lodeiro? Blah.
Same wavelength and all that
South America or Uruguay?
Torreira spinning in his grave
South America.
Europe is better with midfielders in last two decade especially Spain
Tevez’s “bulldog like approach” lol
Agreed with the Tevez comments overall. Great player and fantastic to watch. I think he was the first player I remember, in my time watching football, who left Ferguson’s ManUre and didn’t live to regret it. Personified everything about the “noisy neighbour” stature that the City lot got.
I still have this niggling doubt about his attitude, though. We couldn’t cope with Lassana Diarra…Tevez was a player who refused to come on off the bench for Man City!
Jaap Stam, Diego Forlan and Beckham both had very good post-United careers I’d say.
Forgot Forlan, that’s fair. Becks I was 50/50 on.
I’d say Becks earned himself a lot of plaudits for his final season form at Madrid that won them the league under Capello.
He had his moments but the project itself failed.
Yeah for me his best football was at united. His brand got bigger but his game didn’t.
England thing as well was over hyped. Free kicks and standing crosses.
Another forward left United the same summer as Tevez and did OK for himself.
Mancini deserves some credit for handling that season, he even opened discussions and let him back in to the side to help in Winning the title.
Wait, are you sure?
In my mind that CL refusal game was in 2012/13 when they surrendered the title (but I could.be wrong. If so, you’re absolutely right about Mancini)
You’re a season ahead.
It was Bayern Munich 2011 September. Really early in the season.
