Yeah, hasn’t played more than 20 games(all comps) per season since last 3-4 years or so. But looking at the price and the state of our midfield, could be worth a gamble.
€10m for a squad player isn’t bad at all, as long we don’t expect him to play more than 15-20 games a season.
Can’t buy him as a starter though, otherwise this will end with us in tears.
It’s Arteta and he isn’t a “yes man” either
I said before Arsenal to prioritise the White signing says alot about how Arteta perceives this side and his level of control here
What do you think it says about Arteta and his perception? That he feels like he has full control?
Exactly.
These is the sort of basic transfers we should be doing at the start of the window.
Ramsdale and Abraham are cover for the GK and striker positions and neither were priority signings.
Business like this should be straight forward and sorted quickly so we can focus on getting the marquee signings done.
Or are these the marquee signings we’re supposed to be “excited” about?
That’s why we’ll continue to see inept transfer signings like this, followed by mid table finishes.
I agree, but this excuse will be used again because, although we’ll make a few signings, most will have been totally inadequate.
We don’t need more squad players, we need top quality and this window hasn’t provided that.
As for the list of players we needed to shift, our business in that department has been laughable.
Rather than get rid of them, we’re giving them new contracts.
I’ve always thought that Arteta and Edu were useless but they really have surpassed themselves.
That it’s very flawed and he indulges in the wrong tactical concepts. After watching last seasons sample our attack basically remains the same, there’s been no evolution in terms of tactical setup
He’s dictating the policy for sure, ditching Saliba for a player of a similar profile confirms that. I think the HC should have control but if results aren’t there I expect the club to act
Someone so young and inexperienced shouldn’t have such control.
We as a club lost millions on Guendonzi because of his unwillingness to reconcile with a player he has punished properly.
We could be losing millions on Saliba.
Such losses should be compensated by good results on pitch which is not happening.
We kneejerked post the FA cup victory and gave Arteta, Vinai & Edu everything.
I can only wish for such undeserved promotions in my career.
Ridiculous management by Kroenkes.
As always.
Just generally, my logic when it comes to this is if processes for hiring are sound then it shouldn’t be an issue to give control to the head coach regardless of age or experience.
It’s important the HC has the ability to implement their ideas and has a say in personnel who he feels can do that either in terms of ability or mentality. He is accountable for results at the end of the day.
Arsenal have given Wenger, Emery & Arteta financial backing, we just lack the ability to pick the right candidate which is on senior management and KSE.
Zakaria and Tolisso? Sounds like Elneny’s future could be in doubt…
This GK situation is hugely pressing tbh. We can’t go into this season with Runnarshite and the young lad as backups.
With Leno likely off next summer, the powers that be have seemingly prioritised the signing of a future #1 rather than a backup (which is why Mat Ryan was not pursued).
The problem clearly lies in the fact that Ramsdale is the primary target and he represents horrible value. He cost SU £18m and, if anything, his value should have DECREASED off the back of the season he had. Instead, his fucking price tag is £30-40m. Preposterous. And even more preposterous is the notion of us paying anything fucking near that for him.
I’ve been hoping for Onana but then you’re taking a huge gamble on Leno staying fit until Onana’s ban expires. So they clearly want to sign a guy who can be the long term solution and can play immediately. Onana satisfies the first criterion but not the second.
A GK signing is absolutely inevitable imo. Put your house on one coming in before the window shuts. And then burn the bastard house down when it’s Ramsdale for £35m.
Personally, I’d take the gamble on Onana. His ban expires on 3 Nov but he can train from September. He’d cost less than £10m. He does go away to AFCON as well presumably but again, it’s a gamble worth taking as we do have Leno.
Also, this Vlahovic guy looks decent.
However, I do acknowledge that I am basing this purely on his “Be$t $killz and Goal$ - Why Assna want to sign the Serbian Ibrahimovic” compilation vids on YouTube.
The idea of a potentially higher ceiling player that I know nothing about is significantly more enticing than Tammy fucking Abraham.
It’s true, the board have backed Wenger, Emery and Arteta, even it was too little too late.
But the fact that they thought Emery and Arteta were good enough to take us forward just shows their lack of suitability to run a top European football club.
I agree.
It’s way more exciting seeing a young player coming in, who is dynamic with loads of potential, than yet another Chelsea has been.
It’s as if the board have got some sort of agreement with Abramovich that we have to buy one of their rejects every season.
This is it for me. I don’t know a thing about Vlahovic (aside from the fact he plays for @Phoebica ’s beloved Fiorentina) but I’ve seen Abraham kind of muddle around English football and not really excite me.
6 in 22 last year and that was with a flop like Timo Werner as another option for their coach. Is it possible for him to have a Salah-esque exponential leap in scoring? Sure, it’s possible. But I really don’t want to find out.
I legit never heard of this dude.
He did a great job for me in FM18 when Teirney and Kola were injured
Well the whole idea of bring someone like Raul was exactly that but once that failed due to personnel issue, they just completely abandoned the idea.
If these dumb cunts get Ramsdale instead…
It’s going to happen. They locked on to this player for reasons unknown. It may end up being Arteta’s undoing in which case…bring him on.
