Arsenal transfers 25/26

Not sure about Reece James, but Abraham is not going to be a top striker…unless you mean as back up.

Tammy is an awful player, should be kept at best as a second choice.

I really like reece James though. Not sure if I’d waste money improving on him instead of the crap centre backs and strikers.

I think the last couple of years have proved that we can get just about every player in the market if we offer enough money.

He’s more of a wingback than a full back. If you want defensive solidity he’s not the guy, but if you want what bellerin should be then yeah he’s a great shout. One of the best wing backs in the world.

Opinion on Calabria?

Best right back in the league. Probably top 5 rb in the world. One of the best players in the league and an elite mentality from nowhere when he really struggled a couple seasons ago. He has grown into a real man. Reminds me of tierney a lot with how he is, but a better player.

The moment we move to a non-shit kit sponsor (puma) I’m getting Calabria on a shirt.

Anytime Conte has asked Hakimi to prioritise defending this season he’s been good. I think he balances it pretty well but is admittedly much better going forward.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s competent, but I wouldn’t be comfortable putting him right back in a team who wants to win big trophies, especially alongside the bag of wank centre backs arsenal have. (Although I guess those aren’t centre backs of a team with ambition either). He has two of the best defenders in the world alongside him, as well as brozovic who covers a lot of ground, so his responsibilities aren’t that of a right back.

He’s good, just not great enough if that makes sense? Especially when he’s borderline world class going forward, kinda makes his defending look average by comparison.

So many world class players in a team that finished bottom on their CL group with shaktar gladbach and a dead Real.

Seen 3 of their defenders labeled as world class couple of their midfielders both strikers in just a couple of days. Sheesh

He scored 15 non penalty goals last season. That’s better than most out there.
Their stop scorer this season.

Guessing they can sign someone who’s a better footballer or someone who just scores a lot more instead, but that’s obviously going to cost a lot. Midfield and central defense bigger problems for them, IMO.

It’s possible for a team with a few world class players to massively underperform in a select few matches… look at arsenal even in their peak, Milan too. Plus those centre backs are growing and growing this season.

If arsenal had skriniar and de vrij (and a competent manager) they’d be in top 4.

Barella is going to be world class, he’s on the way, and lukaku absolutely is one of the best strikers currently.

If I’m not mistaken they’ve been tossed 3 years straight in the group stage ? I Remember one year their inability to beat a poor PSV sent Tottenham through and all the way to the final.

Our squad already should be in the top 4… that’s all on the manager. Yeah I get peak teams under perform but it’s really rare now for a peak team to not get out of a CL group stage when it’s so easy for a world class team to do so. I mean that has to be the easiest group by far no?

Have to see next year hopefully they do better.

Tbf Conte has a shocking European record as a whole, I dunno what’s up with him in regards to that, pretty sure his Juventus side also bombed out of the Europa League (to Lyon?) despite being favourites.

Could just put it down to inter just not having the dna for Europe… they’ve always struggled compared to Milan when they were at their strongest even.

Part of me would like them to represent serie a better, it is embarrassing they’re so shit in Europe but obviously still enjoyable, doesn’t stop a select few players being definitely elite. Need a team not just a couple great players to really dominate, and unfortunately they’ve rewlly found their groove now.

I would absolutely take lukaku, barella, de vrij and skriniar qt Milan. Earlier this season I didn’t believe it but watching them more, definitely. Those 4 placed into the Milan squad could really compete at the top.

They won’t. They are too one-dimensional under Conte for European success.

@SpankyJoyJoy you have a point when it comes to De Vrij. In comparison with van Dijk and De Ligt, who are both world class, he is probably slighty below that. But Barella, Martinez and this Lukaku are really up there.

I like Martinez, his profile really gets me going, barella is a good player. After watching Lukaku for about 5 years in the PL I’ll never grow to like or rate him, switched on the other day and he still has an awful first touch but the league let’s his physicality get away with it. Whereas at Utd he had no space so his ball control was an obvious flaw. Respect how well he’s doing. But I don’t like him.

Prefer Lukaku to lautaro tbh, in terms of fit for our team.

Thing about Lautaro is he has yet to show himself to be a gunslinger which is I was dubious about the Barca move.

General play, work rate etc are money but if you aren’t a top tier netter then playing in a one striker system he could be exposed.
