Arsenal transfers 25/26

Yeah, if he wants to be a coach then go be a coach, if he wants to play then find a club to play.
This player/manager role never works.

I reckon summer will have a healthier transfer market.
More people will be able to get vaccinated by then, plus the higher temperatures will reduce the transmission rate of COVID.

Is this Wheatley saying this or does he actually has people in the club saying this? Because if Arteta is going to stay in the job I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he goes Luiz and Gabriel next season.

Not that the lines can’t get blurred but Wheatley is a reporter. He doesn’t do opinion too much as far as I can tell. What his sources are is anyone’s guess.

Even if we can’t get very good prices, we have so many players to potentially sell this summer that as long as Edu doesn’t completely fuck it up (no guarantee there) we should generate a pretty good amount in sales. These figures really don’t seem unrealistic.

Laca - 15m
Eddie - 15m
AMN - 15m
Willock - 10m
Elneny - 5m
Guendouzi - 20m
Torreira - 20m
Bellerin - 20m

We won’t sell every one of them but that’s 120m right there.

I think it could be a very big window for us, even if we don’t make CL or even Europa League. Even with a very modest net spend we could generate a lot of money to spend on new players.

I feel like we were doing the same thing around this time last year and thinking we’d have a great platform to rebuild.

I think teams are really going to struggle to move fringe guys, especially fringe guys who are on decent money. Why would they go anywhere right now? We still don’t really know when fans will be back in stadiums and when gate revenue will return. Even when fans are allowed back it’s still going to take time for the money to flow back into the game.

I’ve got more modest goals for the summer: don’t be a dumbass. That means not giving Lacazette or Luiz an extension just because it’s easy and they’re already at the club. That means not tanking player values with public spats like we’ve done in the past. And ffs let’s get our loans out done quickly.

You’d think fans should be edging closer to some sort of a return by mid August 2021, you’d expect a large chunk of vaccinations for be completed by then ?

Theyre aiming to have them back for the euros.

I know what you mean, it’s a bit on the low side, isn’t it?

Thing is that will leave our team very light, £120 would realistically only buy us 3 top players, 4 at a push. But we also need depth and our back up players can’t be to crap otherwise we will end up at the same place or worse.

Most of those should go but Arteta seems to like Bellerin, Lacazette and Elneny and to replace them, as well as strengthen other positions, would be too expensive.

But certainly the others are replaceable and if we don’t get a European place, he will need to trim the squad.

The other scenario might be that, if we fail to get a top half place, Arteta might get sacked and it will be up to the new manager to decide if players like Guendouzi are worth keeping.

Maybe I’m overly optimistic but I think it’ll be easier to move most of these guys because, other than Laca and Bellerin, none are on high wages and they’re all young. Covid may still be fucking the market but the easiest players to sell are probably those who are young, English, and cheap. Certainly a lot easier than trying to move Ozil, Mustafi, Sokratis, Kola, etc.

Not keen on letting Eddie go, he’s not had a good season but he’s young, English and will likely be happy being 3rd choice for a while yet. Makes no sense at this moment, like Andy Cole, this is another sale of a youngster who just needed some good coaching. Then one of the big boys get him for £70m but we forgot to include a sell-on clause too.

Eddie will never end up at a big club for a fee of 70 million quid.

I reckon if he moves 5 times in his career it won’t hit 70m combined.

We could sell him to Everton. They like to overpay for our rubbish
