I understand the appeal of Grealish and he might hold value better if he flops because Everton will always buy underperforming English talent but I couldn’t vote for him.
Before the resumption of the CL Grealish would piss this. Now we have a load of people going too claim they always liked Aouar.
Always followed Lyon and the French league. Yeah we believe yer.
I’d take either mate. I’ve never seen the Lyon guy play that much unlike Grealish but both class players who would greatly improve us
Grealish is a good player but Villa is going to fleece any team that comes in for him. No way they will let him go on the cheap…£80m keeps being mentioned. I won’t claim that I know Aouar, but he is clearly a young player with a lot of talent (like Grealish), but who we could sign for a lot less money. It is a shame that so many good English players are priced out of a move to a bigger club. Dunk is another prime example - he could easily get into most of the top teams, but no way Brighton would let him go for anything less than £40-50m.
Only watched Aouar twice, was impressed twice and have total confidence to make sweeping predictions about his ability. Isn’t that what scouts do?
I’d suggest too you that we can afford 60 million quid. Choosing to do so or not is another matter.
Here’s how I see it, Grealish is more creative and could potentially lean more towards a #10(reckon that’s where he’ll play if he came here). His goal contributions are better too. Won’t be surprised if he reaches double digits in both goals and assists respectively at some point.
Aouar is more of a modern #8.5 where he likes to do a bit of the silent work too. I think that’s what Arteta wants in his team.
I think Grealish has the fact that he plays for a relegation-worthy Villa team going against him.
He’s not as “exotic” as Aouar.
Now were getting there.
We wouldn’t get Grealish for £60m though…
English players are usually a bit shit though. Or the price/quality ratio is off. Just look at what Chilwell went to Chelsea for. Ligue 1 is a talent factory. Of course, if you don’t both players, you’d lean towards Aouar.
Grealish would at least pacify the “pashun” crowd/Boomers who can only think about effort in terms of running around a lot. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Was about to post this
Juve have no money though?
Grealish is a genuine talent and has proved he has the minerals. Would take him over an unknown right now.
I’d be ecstatic with either tbh. Or any other possible player for that position, apart from Coutinho. Give it a month and I’ll be all for that too.
In what way is Aouar unknown?
I do agree, however, that I’d take Grealish - but from all reports it’s looking like Arteta wants to keep Guendouzi. We either extend his contract, or we sell him.
If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t take Mikel’s words too seriously on that. I feel like the board and Arteta realized that nobody is gonna pay us what we ask for Guendouzi and that they’re the ones to blame for not handling it better(in terms of publicity). No sane club outside the PL is gonna pay over 30m in this climate for a spoiled brat that has yet to fulfill his potential. They’re certainly not gonna accept him in player exchange either.
In a similar situation, in my opinion Arteta praised Ainsley so much to remind clubs that are coming in that we’re not gonna sell him for peanuts.
On Guendo. I think the only way he stays is if we completely botch our plan and he has to stay to fill in our numbers in midfield.
Well considering we haven’t sold anyone yet and Partey’s release clause is 50m I fully anticipate seeing Guendo lining up for us at some point in September.
Ages to go until 5th October…lots will happen (hopefully not waiting on Gabriel and Auba)
