Considering our massive spending in recent seasons it seems unlikely we’ll have another window with record signings, despite selling ESR and Nketiah.
Any top European attacking player is going to cost at least what we paid for Rice and it’s more likely we’ll get a young player with potential that can cover for Saka and other attacking positions.
Both Calafiori and possibly Merino are very good signings and we’ve shifted a few fringe players so it’s still been a good window.
City can’t improve (much) from now.
Their core players have past their prime or getting worse.
They let Ederson and Alverez go. New player(s) needs time to blend in.
This is our time to catch up and fight, especially adding Calafiori (and Merino).
Now is the time, all about mentality.
We lost the title by 2 points and the manager spent the first half adapting the team to a new way of playing. To control games and we saw that come to fruition second half. We’ll be on it right out of the gate this season and our team is only getting better. Only way we don’t win the title this time is through a City masterclass of a juggernaut season imo. This team right now is primed to win this title.
I think this is really the only way to beat City to the title, basically the same way Liverpool did in 2020 when they just came out firing and won pretty much every game to the point where by the time they faltered, the league was essentially over anyway.
The old saying that you can’t be champions with more than 5 loses doesn’t apply anymore.
I totally agree we have to give 100%. We should aim to finish the season unbeaten. I’d happily take short cup runs and a quarter-final in the UCL if favour of concentrating on our league campaign.
